what i have been told is - just to get the story straight:
birks were up 2-0 just before half time, playford player punches birks player in the face, birks player reacts, all in brawl between officials and players - no parents involved - the ref is to lodge a report
3 red cards to birks players
4 to playford

To those twats who said "love to see it" get a life.
Whatever happened it is a disgrace to the game and should not be laughed at in any way shape or form.
Refer to other post about clubs being too serious
Re who is to blame, I have no knowledge of the event so I will not comment about the who did what to whom ...

Why would you watch garbage like that. It does not belong to the game of soccer and definitely not in Junior soccer. It is disgrace to the game of soccer. All people involved in should be suspended till the end of season. I hope for the sake of the game that Federation will do something about it. It is that what makes the bad name for such a great game.cevape wrote:Did anyone by any chnace have camera footage. Would like to see it.

It is irelevant who started. You don't have to retaliate. It is up to coaches to control their teams and club to reprimand all involved.NickBoz wrote:talking to a lad in the team who got a red he says that it was started by playford and all he did was break up the fight, so birks might feel hard done by for 1 or 2 red cards

Neutral Observer, you are saying that if some1 punched you in the face that you wouldn't retaliate. I was studded in the chest on the weekend while i was on the floor now that is not needed in the game. Di*k heads like you should keep your mouth shut because you don't know what its actually like to get involved in a fight during a game

No, you are right, I woldn't know what is to be involved in fight. I never got involved in fight during the game. Am I qualified to comment? Yes I am. I played at International level, coached at senior and Junior International level and been involved with soccer for last 38 years. I agree 100% with Nova the team always should come first. It is loud mouth and players like you who give the bad name to such a great game. Grow up before you go and started abusing others. With your attitude you sholdn't be playing in first case. How does your Coach and your Club feel about your retaliation?cevape wrote:Neutral Observer, you are saying that if some1 punched you in the face that you wouldn't retaliate. Well said Neutral Observer, I think that would shut him up
But I don't blame Cevape for his views !
Junior coaching is to blame, with not enough quality coaches with rational minds and focus on teaching kids fundamentals of team play, skills and how to conduct yourself on a football pitch !
Hardness in the game is nessesary, it's not ping pong we're playing and there are thugs out there, but like I said there are ways to deal with them and not cost your team !
I played in the early 80's and there were a lot of good players back then, skillfull and tough as nails, I learnt a lot from their dirty tricks and realized quickly they were looking for a reaction to get you sent off or put you off your game ! And it's part of the game you must learn to deal with and focus on doing the team thing, that's what makes a great player !
Incedently, I never got sent off, but there is a few old blokes out there with stud marks still on their ankles !

Your right Wild Eagle, maybe a bit to harsh, as there are a lot of good coaches, and yes PARENTS, tv, etc a lot to blame aswell ! CheersWild Eagle wrote:Junior coaching is to blame: now that is what I call a class sweeping statement
I personally blame violence on tv....oh, did I mention anything about possible poor parenting?

totally agree with what you have said,as a coach of a senior team for the past six years and a player at the one club for 12 years its the hardest thing to inforce disapline into players that don't have it.though i've coached good players that aren't disaplined, but it tends to show when those players are not having a good game(do you agree?).its the saying that if they can stop and think for a second before doing something silly .Nova wrote:Well said Neutral Observer, I think that would shut him up

onoir diomasack
A lot of good players are spotted early in life and coaches (not all Wild Eagle so hear me out)seem to focus on these players to win games ! Along with refining their skills unfortunately they refine bad attitudes and big heads with it !
How many players have you seen over the years that ooze talent and know it but think they are invincible and the moment something does'nt go their way , they spit it !
But these guys can still be taught I believe !

Nova,
you make many good points.
I feel it is important to show the other side of the coin also, though.
Far too many times everyone tends to jump on coaches' backs: it happens from top level internationally to the local junior scene.
Most coaches in the world are volunteers who dedicate an enormous amout of time, energy and cerebral skills to make sure the 15-16 kids that are in their hands finish the sessions alive, well and having had a good, positive time; if they also learnt anything in the process, it's a great result.
These are people, and I include myself, who love the game, love being with kids and get out of it as much as they put in.
Winning is part of competing and people must be educated to strive for victory as a positive expression of their work; it is also obvious that it is one of three possible outcomes.
I get annoyed when sweeping statements are made against coaches, referees and club officials: we give our lives to this game, we may be ignorant at best of times but we deserve much more credit and, believe me, much more respect than this.

"I played at International level, coached at senior and Junior International level and been involved with soccer for last 38 years." Neutral Observer if you have this much experience what are doing in Adelaide mate, shouldn't you be in Europe coaching some international team. When i was playing junior football i was told not to take crap from anyone on the park. If someone elbows you, you hit them back twice as hard (my advice from my coach). Your telling me that you were a clean player and never elbows someone or stepped on someones toes on purpose. Don't bullsh*t. I have played long enough to know that every player does these things.

Who?... Who is but a form, followed by the function of what... And what I am, is a man in a mask!
Re: game called off
How old are you people? And are you parents? These kids, YES KIDS, were playing in under 15s yes?, so that would make them 13/14 years old? And you're saying good on them for smacking someone in the face and starting an all out brawl. As a parent of a child just starting out in this sport, I say shame on you people. You are the sort of parent we DON'T want on the sidelines, and if it was a coach encouraging it, I would hope the club involved would be having some very strong words to say to him about his coaching techniques. I certainly wouldn't be sending my son out there to play with parents/coaches like you on his team...
