That's the way it should be.KrAzY wrote:There is the league ..and that goes on points ..whoever finishes on top wins
and then there is cup which is seperate and goes from group stages to knockout stages
cupfinal is not this sunday but next - 23rd sept.
Premier Cup - Metro United Vs Fulham United
Kickoff is at 3 @ Hindmarsh stadium
I think Metro and Cumby are fast becoming the New Vale. Crude tackles. Playing the player and not the ball. Late tackles and basically unsportsmanlike behaviour is fast becoming a hallmark. The only diff is the Vale doesn't purpoprt to be "all high and mighty!"
If both of those teams start to play soccer in the manner it was intended, then consistant results will go there way. Until, they will be also rans.
from my observations, the teams I rate as skilled and with excellent sportsmanship (no particular order):
Sturt
City
Toros
Olympic (when a particular player is not there)
Fulham.

Can't wait to see some quality football played.
Cup final's are awesome, the atmosphere at hindmarsh is always electric it doesn't matter if only one side of the ground is full.
I've only played in one cup final (metro v fulham) but i still remember that awesome feeling of walking out in front of all those who came to watch us play and being blown away by the sheer amount of people.
There's no better feeling than actually playing in front of a crowd. And lets face it how often do we get to play infront of a crowd that size.
Goodluck to both teams, hoping to seeing metro come away with the cup should be a good close game. I don't think either team has too much of an edge on the other! Bring on the FOOTBALL!

Nice one K!
Unfortunately (for you and Krazy) you are not able to go past the sledging and provide an alternate point of view of contrary argument to what I have said. I have not disrespected anyone. I can see you 2 are passionate about your sport but take time to reflect at where you are. Where you want to go. And what you need to do to get there. YOU NEED TO WANT IT!
In case you have not got the BIG PICTURE about ME, I will spell it out SLOWLY!
1) I am an avid supporter of women's sport (esp soccer);
2) I am a passionate supporter of the National Teams;
3) Above all I am a passionate and fervant supporter of South Australia and our State Teams. Even if its tinky winks.
4) I want to see SA girls make it to the big time and not fall over just before the line.
5) I am AGAINST elitism in sport. Why? Because it breeds softness and complacency.
6) I want to see everyone in SA have a chance to have a go at the BIG TIME. Irrespective of where they play ie local club or elite team.
7) I am against those who put down a person who wants to succeed. Eastern State's girls have fierce competition. Survival of the fittest.
I am always prepared to debate any issue.
Give me 1 passionate player over 100 wannabees. I respect an athlete who tries over someone who is along for the ride.

yes passionate enuf to keep replying to u rite!! because more times than not we don't agree with you.. have your opinion thats fine.. but don't think evryone is going to agree with you.. spec some of the things you voice.. and i am assuming havn't even tried eg video!! i didn't know this damn video thing would turn into such a big deal.. so let me spel it out for you my friend.. never once did we say "video is all we need to get us across the line".. it helps.. this is all we are saying.. helps US not everyone- US! as we have found!! so who are you to say what it is we "need" or even "want"?!
so let me paint the bigger picture for you.. it is all well and good to now list everything you do and do not support... half the things i prob wouldnt even of guessed you support going by your posts on here.. you tend to be very critical about most things.. your problem with "crude tackles".. its a contact sport!!! just like the men.. most girls tend to go in just as hard- (contact on another player).. its not meant to be like netball.. as soft and harmless sport.. hard tackles more times than not show passion for the game! I personally have always been taught to go in hard.. and half hearted tackles will only end in yourself gettin hurt!!
i don't know what else you want to hear.. as this is a public forum.. not a "where does Kirrals and Krazy want to head with their careers" open forum..

i dnt see what the problem wif tackling is guys do it so y shudnt grls
grls should be encouraged to play as well as guys and a part of socer is sumtimes tackling these things r normal... sad grl u being so dedicated and passionate about soccer should know this and anyway u cant ALWAYS be 100% accurate when tackling bcoz objects sucha as the ball and players move. sumtimes u hit the ball sumtimes u hit a player as long as u dnt break a leg its alrite
i dnt think it has anythi to do wif sportsmanship bcoz even the best players do it n when they get up they shake hands n walk away no hard done

I think the saying is "go hard or go home"
It seems to me that all teams involved in the league this season seem to playing a harder brand of football.
Kirral's is right its football not netball, in saying that i also think that there has been a lot more "playing the player" from all teams not just metro and cumby.
I think that a lot of it can be put down to a lack of control on the part of the referees. Ref's just don't seem to be the decision makers anymore. There's no consistancy to what is called in each game.
Players aren't getting pulled up for things like dodgy tackles, shirt pulling, and elbowing.
Consequently players know they can get away with more so they do, im not saying players are doing it on purpose just that sub-consiously they know they can get away with it.
I think more consistancy on the part of the ref's and a bit of respect on the players behalf for their sport would go along way to preventing some of the more un-sportswoman like behaviour from becoming a permanent part of our game.
In closing yes football is a contact sport but it doesn't have to be dirty and done in such a manner that it takes away from the beauty of a hard-fought game!

Thankyou "SAD GIRL" --- another voice of reason in the wilderness..I agree with your comments. Soccer is a game of skill - foot skills, the last time I looked..just because men, boys play dirty soccer doesn't mean that women should follow..its ugly ..and can cause serious injuries. No one is saying you shouldn't play hard..that doesn't mean the player at all costs!!
The teams that have played a skilfull brand of game have surprisingly finished top of their respective leagues!! So Ms K why dont you open your
eyes and ears and listen instead of putting your boot in your mouth and pooh others opinions!!!
Oh sorry Sportysa but when did i ever say dont have ur own opinion.. i just sed i didnt agree wit it.. and how has any of what u just sed in relation to what SG said?? it isnt.. except your against me.. which is fine!!.. i didnt ever say, hard meant go in dirty- like uve stated!! your comment means nothing to me as its got nothing to do with what ive said!
I would love for you to give me a list of SERIOUS injuries that metro players have inflicted upon anyone in the league this year???
Then maybe you have some evidence to justify ur comments about us being too hard for ur liking!
Look at Australia (men) at the world cup ..definately play a HARDER brand of football than most other countries..
just because u cant handle or cant handle seeing a little physical contact dont come on here insulting clubs like metro and cumby!
