We are all aware who's not playing - but what is the starting line up going to be?

Only on Fox Sports, who have exclusive rights to all Australia games. Starts at 6pm on Fox Sports 2, but that would be talking. Kick off is probably 6 30.

Full Time

Australia 0
Argentina 1 (Demechelis 49')

Messi is a gun!... made the Aussie defence look very amateur.

Not a BAD way to end the reign of Graham Arnold

argentina 1-0 australia

socceroos really gotta stop trying to be over physical...pulling shirts, dirty tackles etc. we are doing ourselves no favours, big countries wont wanna visit if they know they will be expecting it. and its not good to watch, we are better than that.
carney, holman, wilkshire, even grella....its international level not sunday pub soccer.

with that not a bad performance by the boys, obviously missing some players.

nicky carle was terrible when he came on, as was mrdja, didnt think thompson did much either.

mascherano is an animal, argies played well, created a lot of chances, messi is a proper gun.

he was a lump, the reason he didnt get a touch was because he was so slow and couldnt read the ball.
wouldnt even use him as a railway sleeper.

not a disgrace going down 1-0 to Argentina...a few positives and could
ve perhaps scored...however Australia still have to lift to another level to match it with top sides like the Argies...

zanetti's dribbling and distribution were brilliant for a veteran - hope he keeps goin like that...

and messi, i thought that too Baggio15, lookd as if it would go in off the post... freak of nature

Nathan Burns should have been in that squad. He's the best A-League player at the moment and should be there before Nick Mrdja. He's Australia's next Harry Kewell.

fluffing annoys me how australia play like thugs (holding players back, pushing them) when they are losing

argentina never got out of 2nd gear and won the game comfortably

Australia played well for long periods I thought, while we never really threatened, at least we tried to keep the ball.

I thought at times we gave them to much respect, and werent smart enough about messi marked him to close instead of backing off him a yard. He one of the best for being able to roll his man, great shot to

and for gods sake he's got one foot, everytime he went the other way he lost the ball.

Got no issue with us being physical, didn't think we were that bad, a lot of positives I think too, at least it wasn't the demolition that everyone exepected

The reason mrdja played over burns is probably cause of burns comitment with the olyroos, and the fact that mrdja has been performing very well in the a-league

Aussie Performance

Post by ozzie owl »

Overall I was pleased on two fronts last night the performance and knowing it is Arnold's last game.

I am still confused how Holman gets a game, he was poor in Asian Cup as well. Last night comes and gets a yellow inside two mins and could easily got a second yellow. He looks and thinks slow. Surely Burns is better than him.

If Australia had their best 11 they wouldn't be anywhere near the quality of Argentina it annoys me when we try and match them for skill and end up looking stupid - being physical is the only way we can come close - thugs is overstated but definetly were physical last night and well done

cmon knight7... next u will say lets go back to the long ball???

can u get over this english style game!!! physical, get stucking, run hard, no skill, kick and run!!! yeah... set australian football back to the 80's

if we are going to improve technically and move forward then we should try to be positive and try to play football instead of bringing the english style thuggery!

we should be encouraging players to keep the ball, play with flair not be physical as you put it!

your style of play belongs in amateurs and that why all english style teams dominate... look to the federation and you dont see an english backed team dominate!

I don't rate this guy at all, he's very slow. He appears t be a hard worker who achieves very little for the effort he appears to put in. Can this guy even score, what his scoring record like for his club?

quoted for truth.
by admitting defeat and playing like thugs is gonna put us back in the stone age.
copping a couple years of hidings would be worth it if there is light at the end of the tunnel. physicality will only get us so far.
