Cup Semi Finals or Final

Post by htfc »

A thought.

If Downs meet the Vale in either semi or final what would people think to having it played under lights at Playford on a Saturday Night?

Or if Downs/Vale draw TTG at the Paddocks/Raiders/Modbury under lights on a Saturday night. Good chance the reserves could be a game between Jets, Parafield, Easties or Farm as a curtain raiser.

The League could sell the rights to the highest bidder? They can never cater properly at Grange anyway.

Big crowd to both. Bigger than what you would get at Grange. Also the bloody wind at Grange always stuffs up any game there.

Does anyone remember the crowd when Downs played Jets at Playford under lights many years ago?

Would not want to go to Ram Park, The Chickenman there this year. Was a nice pitch then, but no shelter for the supporters. This if we gonna do a big game night/day then the spectators do need some cover. Playford, Modbury, Marden, all good venues for the games.

im sure that if someone wants to ring mr. Bailey at the saasl they would have already organised the venue. On the point of playing under lights on a sat night im all for it and im sure all partners would be happy too. A chance to enjoy the evening get smashed as steedy would say then have a relaxing sunday.

Would you play the ressies at the other grounds to?

I think that Blue Eagles ground would be the best. Fairly central, no advantage to anyone and they have a good pitch and facilities.

Playford isn't to bad of an idea. I think that Vale and Downs should look at moving one of their home games to Playford next year on a Friday/Saturday night. Think of how many amauter clubs would go down to watch. They could do a profit share with themselves and Playford.

I might even look to see if we could do something against PHE at Para Hills or Modbury next year.

The biggest problem is getting some money out of the Fed clubs!

It should but sadly, amateur football will almost certainly not be played at Hindmarsh Stadium again because the venue is now run by the SA Gov't meaning that it would want mega-bucks. Just like Bob D'Ottavi said.

htfc - I remember playing in that game for the Downs against the Jets at Playford (Ramsay Park) - semi final cup game underlights. I think Marty Craig scored the winning penalty shot. Awesome night and fantastic crowd.

Would be great for the Downs v Vale played at Playford underlights. A huge crowd would turn up for that one.

Me too the league would only be interested in filling their coffers by having everyone at headquarters for the Semi and Finals. As for proping up a fed club with our presence I do not know about that but having said that Playford would have to get the nod just for location..If we get ttg would modbury or the paddocks be the go..We all know the league and I can not see this happening would be nice but I think we will all be heading to Grange
There is no I in team, but there is a u in suck...

As soon as the game was called off i contacted Modbury Federation to enquire about getting the ground for a night to play this catch up game and was told that it was not possible this year as the ground is fully booked

I too remember that night and is certainly the biggest crowd i've played in front of while playing amateurs.

Great idea Jay. I'm sure we at the east would give it the nod.
