Real Madrid sign Wesley Sneijder

Post by DON HALA MADRID »

Real Madrid Net Wesley Sneijder For 27M

Former Ajax man Wesley Sneijder has penned a five year deal with Real Madrid, according to the club's official website...

Wesley Sneijder has completed his transfer to Real Madrid, according to the Spanish side's official website. His switch from Ajax has been in the works for other a month, but had recently stalled due to disputes over the transfer fee.

However, the Dutch giants appear to have finally reached an accord with Los Merengues. This was far from guaranteed: lately, Real Madrid refused to pay 27 million euros up front, with Ajax refusing to budge from their valuation.

However, according to Ajax's official web page, Madrid have relented, agreeing to meet their asking price for the midfielder. Reports in Spain, however, suggest that the figure is around 26m.

What matters most, perhaps, is that Los Merengues have confirmed that Sneijder will wear white for the next five seasons.

Wesley, a 23 year old midfielder, is a product of the famous Ajax youth academy. After breaking into the first team in 2002, he quickly established himself both as a key player at the Amsterdam ArenA, and as a Dutch international.

He had been linked with a move to the Premiership, and had almost completed a move to Valencia earlier this summer, but for Quique Sanchez Flores to veto it during his internal conflict with Amedeo Carboni.

Interestingly, the transfer fee agreed back then was around 14 million euros.

- will be a great Madridsta, he can complement Diarra perfectly and send rockets into the net from midfield... Exactly what we are looking for

Valencia ask for the player valuation 14m, Real come to the table 27m
I don't like lies. I have understood your market where sometimes lies sell more than truth. This is your life and I don't like it. I understand your work and I have to work with you, but the protection of my group is much more important than you

I thought that it was always around 25-30m, but Valencia didn't want to go higher than 14m.

calmed down now

sneijder going to Real Madrid is real bad timing cause we have a CL qualifier in a few days

however, im sure we will find a replacement - hala madrid, sneijder is an awesome player, he has one of the best shots on goal outside the penalty area in europe. You will definitely enjoy him at Real Madrid.

lol @ real are becoming the new barca - drenthe, sneijder, van nistelrooy, maybe van der vaart. Looks like I will be watching them this season.

And, once again Ajax has proven that they have the best youth academy in the world. Our players going to the biggest teams in Europe.

Babel 17 million euros
Sneijder 27 million euros

not bad for a club in a 'small' league

madrid should have put that $27m in a brief case and sat it on the bench, because thats where sneijder will be.
scores a cracker every now and again but overall a very ordinary play, and very ordinary buy.

Welcome Sneijder

Apparently, when he realized the deal might fall through he told Ajax that he wanted the deal done and to please do what they can to get it done.

All we need now is to sign Robben and our squad will be completed. But even if we don't sign Robben at this point, we look much more solid because on the wings we could combine Robinho, Drenthe, and Higuain and that isn't too shabby. (ofcourse Robinho and Robben is alot better)

Sneijder really makes us much stronger and will help generate play in the middle, something we haven't had in a VERY long time, a true center midfielder. Whoever says he isn't a good player and is overatted can go screw themselves: because he can be true world class talent in the next few years - name someone in the Dutch league who scores goal outside the box like he does?? At the end of the day, he'll prove himself on the pitch next weekend. Can't wait to see him send those rockets into the net from either foot!

May even get a Sneijder shirt this season!

(just thought I'd top this post off with some world-class AS photoshopping lol, gotta love their commitment to new signings)

Coincidentally Arsenal & Ajax finished bottom two in their group at the Champions Youth Cup.
