Questionable Sportsmanship

Post by rabbit »

Under 17's

Earlier in the season Para played at Modbury and had to supply the match balls as the Modbury ones were flat. Pleased to oblige.
Today in the return match at Para Hills, Modbury decide to turn up in their white strips knowing Para play in white. Despite the referee commencing the game, it was obvious the game couldn't continue. Para advised the ref we had a spare yellow strip and again we obliged and gave them to the Modbury boys who were heard mumbling that Para should wear them. Remember, WE are the home team and could have claimed a forfeit if we were so inclined. Anyway, the game ended and some of the Modbury boys were last seen taking off their borrowed shirts and were seen kicking them back over to the Para technical area saying..."these shirts are shite."
Have always had a lot of respect for the boys from Modbury but today, unfortunately, you let yourselves and your Club down and have tarnished my opinion somewhat. What's more they allowed their Coach to put the shirts in a neat pile for us to pick up. Some of the Modbury parents weren't much better either judging from what was heard from the sidelines. Like I said to some of your players and your Coach before the game, I wish you luck for the Final at Hindmarsh but for you to move forward as players, you really need to pull your heads in and don't expect everything to be laid on a plate for you. Wouldn't surprise me if the offending players today are the same players who were writing crap about their own Club a couple of weeks ago. Good luck for the future lads and we hope you enjoy the rest of the season like you enjoyed your day out to Para today. For the record..Para won 2-1.

Para Hills vs Modbury

To Rabbit, 1st about the strip's it would of been good if we got told before the match, not during. 2nd sorry about the strip's getting through at you, would you like to wear Modbury strip's against Modbury. 3rd I think the reffree did a bad job today.

None of those three points are our problem.
Instead of doing a pointless card check as all players know each other, maybe your time would have been better spent being more organised. Remember, WE were only trying to help and enable the match to continue. Agree with the reffing, but he was consistently poor towards BOTH teams. And yes, my boys would rather play in a Modbury shirt than lose the game on a forfeit...wouldn't you?

Didn't have that problem Friday night in the U14's although the Knights yellow 'away' is a bit light. :)

I suppose if the floodlights were all on it would of helped.

Didn't really annoy us...just thought you could have used the additional time to look for your away strips that, apparently, were there all the time.

cumberland always come in yellow when they play birks, obvious colour clash, the league needs to whack clubs on the hands with an instant forfeit to stop bullshit like that happening.

every club knows what the other is wearing so there is no excuse.

When West Adelaide play the Jets, home (blue) or away (white) kits will clash regardless.

I saw the 14's game on Friday night, and i must say that ParaHills away top was a horrible pale yellow colour, especially against Modbury's new top, which personally I think is very nice indeed.
it was a messy game though, Parahills had no midfield working for them at all and lost the ball 8/10 times. modbury lacked a good attack and were quite dirty up front, studs up every time! big lad for modbury played well, and both keepers worked hard, possibly the two best keepers in that age group I have ever seen, their results probably will agree.
back to strips, all teams should have a good looking home and away, so you can keep the pride wearing both.

PS....You should count yourselves lucky that the two colours won't meet at Hindmarsh given our record over you guys in recent seasons....ESPECIALLY in the Cup as I'm sure you remember!!! At least you'll have half a chance against Metro.

Playford 17As went to modbury a couple of weeks ago and didnt realise that modbury wore white at home, last time we were there they were in blue....rather than making us go and get our change strip they offered to play in their yellow strip all though we would have worn it if they made us, our kids just wanted to play......As for the modbury rule about card checks, their team manager was quite upset that after they saw our cards our kids walked off and didnt look at theirs....apparently our boys said they didnt care who they played, just as long as they played.....Pity Adelaide hills couldnt do that...three of our boys who played for our 16s on friday forgot their cards on sunday so Hills wouldnt let them play, two of them were 15 one was 16....We still beat them 3 - 1 .....I think it must have something to do with us winning now......Like Rabbit said all the kids know each other by now, most of them are probably mates..............but i know some clubs do spoil it i suppose..............

Not that I intend to enter a discussion with the likes of you because you obviously are a kn-b jockey but most of the Modbury and Para boys know each other pretty well and nearly all of what is written is friendly banter and believe it or not, we all get on pretty well. Adelaide City have done very well again this season and congratulations to your squad for another good year. And to say ours has been worthless just highlights what EVERYBODY thinks about your type of Club....that is... the only way to have a sucessful season is to win something! Well I hope at the end of your career you have a cupboard full of trophies and lots of memories to go along with them. But I can guarantee one thing...the memory of failure will last a lot longer with the likes of you than it will for the likes of us who just love our soccer...WIN, LOSE OR DRAW. Congratulations once again for having a season more rewarding than anybody else.
