The reason why Milan haven't signed anyone yet

Post by Translator »

too busy trying to interfere in other deals :P

Milan Asked Barca To Sign Chivu According to the daily Spanish newspaper 'Sport', the Rossoneri met Barcelona in Spain to convince the Blaugrana in signing the Roma defender.

The Director of Milan, Adriano Galliani, was spotted in Barcelona some weeks ago and everyone was convinced that the Rossoneri's vice-President was there to negotiate a possible move of Eto'o or Ronaldinho to Milan.

However, it has emerged now through the Spanish newspaper 'Sport' that the reason of Galliani's visit to Spain was in fact to convince Barcelona to sign Cristian Chivu, so that rivals Inter will not strengthen themselves for the new season.

This was the only contact that Milan and Barcelona had in Spain, and if this report is confirmed, then there will be further reasons for the sport feud between the Rossoneri and Inter to continue this season.

Unfortunately for Milan, Barcelona opted to sign Milito instead, and Chivu is expected to be officially announced by Inter later on today.

Don't personally believe it but.....

Ronaldo, Gila and Inzaghi all injured (short term). Oliviera gone already (great replacement for Shevchenko), missed out on Suazo and Baptista not interested.

Dida and Kalac in goals?

I reckon Milan could do with a defender and midfield as well for depth.

With four weeks left will Milan sign anyone?

What's Berlusconi doing with his CL money? Gearing up for the next Italian election

Milan finished 36 points(also including the 8 deducted points) behind Inter and your saying you don't need to sign anyone...the squad is complete?????

I'm no Serie A expert but finishing that far behind I would say they need to strengthen the squad.

your right u are no serie A expert....Milan achieved the goals that they set at the start of the season...I'm sure this season u will see Milan make a much more serious charge at the scudetto as well as being a prominent figure in the Champions League as always

Milan (Galliani) said that they will have caught up to Inter by Christmas...referring to their point deduction. Didn't work out like that, so i'd say that is a season goal which went unfulfilled.

OBJECTIVE REACHED
5/13/2007 7:01:00 PM
Alberto Gilardino, Ricardo Kakà, Filippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Nesta and Clarence Seedorf are celebrating reaching their Serie A objective for the season

ALBERTO GILARDINO: ‘We have qualified with two game left to go. We played really well in Serie A. It’s been an amazing season, from the Champions League preliminaries up until here. We went through some difficult moments, but the group’s strength prevailed. Now, we can think about the final Athens.’

RICARDO KAKA': ‘We reached an important objective. Both sides were affected by the heat today. Even so we played a good first half and created various scoring opportunities. Then the team let up a bit in the second half, but that’s normal considering the heat and the fatigue. Now, there’s the game with Udinese. We have reached our objective for next year’s Champions League preliminary round, which allows us to now focus on the final.’

FILIPPO INZAGHI: ‘I thought that the first goal was good but the important things is that we qualified for the preliminary round of the Champions League next year. We hope to take forward from Athens. The heat held us back a bit, but we played a good game. We are satisfied. Now, we will be playing for the big one in ten days.’

ALESSANDRO NESTA: ‘We are satisfied. It was really hot in Bologna today and we had to labour through that heat a bit. We should have closed the game in the first half. The draw with Catania made me a bit angry. As of today the league on paper is finished for us. We wanted to go into the Champions League winning, but it’s okay like this too.’

CLARENCE SEEDORF: ‘I am not happy with the entire game, but I am happy that we reached an important objective. It was a tough year for us. Now, we should celebrate this day even though we didn’t’ win and it wasn’t a great game. Nevertheless, we have reached this certainty for next year. Now we can prepare for the final with the right attitude.’ Today Milan’s number 10 scored his tenth goal: ‘I won’t stop here…’

But that was only the objective once it became clear the original objective was not going to occur. Milan had great expectations to wipe out the deduction and beat Inter, but it did not happen, so they settled for a minimum of fourth.

well of course thats what they would have told me and you...if u were a fan would u rock up to every game if u knew ur teams objective was to finish 4th...realistically starting with any sort of points deduction would make it hard to finish 1st....

however i still feel the milan squad is 1 of the most complete squads going around..also have cup winning primavera squads with talent coming through...milan is not a revolving door club that buys and sells big name players...they use there resources well

This time last year Milan were without Nesta, Kaladze & Serghino due to injury. Add the January acquisitons of Ronaldo & Oddo and thats 5 players Milan did not have for almost half the season last year. Throw in Pato and i think 1 more signing, Milan should be around the mark this year. They are a settled line up and only require 1 or 2 new faces to freshen up the squad. No need to make huge changes.

don't know if Berlusconi & Uncle Fester agree.

Considering Milan scored less than Inter, Roma, Fiorentina, Lazio and Palermo last year pretty sure they were after another striker. Missed out on Suazi  then they started talking up Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Henry, Baptista etc.

Can't see Hamburglar or Inzaghi playing 50+ games leaves you Gilardino. With an 18 year not coming until January.
