Are we in the midst of a pitch crisis?
By the end of the season and by the start of the next will have some of the pitches healed in time and returned to playable conditions?

I have to say that had Cumby still been at their old grounds, the pitches would probably have been almost unusable given the weather over the past month or so.
However, at their new shared grounds (Flinders Uni) the playing and training pitches are still in great condition.
This is not exactly amalgamation, but it is 2 separate clubs co-existing and geeting good shared facilities as a result.

Yes but there have been some logistical nightmares trying to arrange game times and training areas since Cumberland have come to Flinders Uni. I think it has worked to Cumberland's advantage a lot more than Unis.pvfc wrote:I have to say that had Cumby still been at their old grounds, the pitches would probably have been almost unusable given the weather over the past month or so.

I wont deny that Cumby have benefitted greatly from the move. However, the 2 clubs only train at the same time on one night a week, and I was told Flinders got their preference for which training areas to use. Also on the 3 or 4 occasions during the season that home games have clashed, Cumby have re-scheduled the game times for several of their teams to suit.
Overall, I wouldn't say this has been a 'nightmare' for either club.
If as Billy The Kid is suggesting, it takes a bit of co-operation between clubs (and I dont just mean these 2, but others around SA too) for the future good of womens soccer then so be it.

I think a meeting was held and it was agreed that space would be made for both clubs for Tuesday night training. I think it would be a stretch to suggest Flinders were given their preference for areas. I think there's three occasions where there's a clash of Sunday games, on the two occasions that have happened so far, Flinders has had to completely reshuffle their games with the Div 3 team unable to even play a scheduled home game there and the Div 1 side having to reschedule kick off times.pvfc wrote:I wont deny that Cumby have benefitted greatly from the move. I think there has been reasonable cooperation between the two clubs, largely due to Carol and the President of Flinders but it hasn't been ideal. I'm not sure I agree with your point about shared grounds and facilities. Like in all levels of business, the bigger company will come along and swallow the little company up.
I never said that there had been no problems, and I think there has had to be some give and take on both sides - as you said there has been reasonable co-operation between the 2 clubs, you would expect nothing less.
Why would Cumby want to "swallow up" Flinders?
Just want to be "good neighbours", and agreements are in place to try and keep it that way.
PM me if you want to Keeps, but I dont think Flinders have anything to worry about.
Anyway, getting back to the original thread - the state of 1 or 2 other grounds has obviously raised some concerns with a few people, or this thread would not have started.
Any other contributions or ideas on how to address this problem moving forwards?
