You know a ref is bad when...?

Post by Fresh Football »

Both sides agree the ref is crap!!

Example, someone being convincingly chopped in the box after a fantastic solo effort only to be waived away and the player had to receive attention for the injury he received...

Week in week out, some ref's are ruining two good sides having a ding dong battle...

Would love to hear a good ref story...? :)

Why is it a ref always has a bad game even if he only makes 1 bad decision yet a player can miss 2 open goals or miss a tackle, score a own goal etc, and there is no blame on them ???????????????????
Don't get me wrong i have lots of run ins with refs ( there is not a ref out there who would have a nice thing to say about me) but the amateur league are losing so many refs that soon there will be even less refs around and without them there is no soccer.
If you would like to hear good stories about refs why don't people focuss on the good decisions first then the bad????????????
I bet there are more correct decisions then wrong it's just that we always remember the wrong

It's all been said before I quote
"One way to improve refereeing standards would be for Clubs to take the initiative to tell some of their coaches, players, officials and supporters to shut the f*#k up sometimes.
Has anyone out there ever witnessed a referee changing his decision based on some of the tirades levelled at them. I doubt it, so why bother.
Accept their mistakes and try to overcome them as you would want fellow players to do if you missed a sitter, gave away a penalty or put one in your own net.
Most games that have been decided by a refereeing error could have been decided if missed chances had been taken.
Creating a decent atmosphere for refs might encourage more to take up the whistle.
Secondly, teach players (and possibly some refs) the rules and codes of conduct that apply to this great game.

Eh, some people just refuse to listen to reason. Any club is going to have its bad apples and they aren't going to change to matter how many times you tell them to bite their tongue and get on with the game. Idiots are everywhere, no surprise some of them happen to play football too :P

Make each player ref one game per season and see if they could do better

when.....................he refuses to acknowledge the linesmans flag for the entire game!
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

he gives a player a yellow card and then produces the red card as he believes it was his second offence and then checks his notebook to find that it was the players first yellow and he can stay on the pitch after all.

This happened in the A's game two weeks ago between the Cove and the Jets.

Never been part of a game when a plyer has been shown a red only for it to be rescinded.

When i was a ref i sent a player of ten seconds into the game. He played for Man U Supporters club. He got a yellow before kick off for foul and abusive language and would not shut up when the game started. His team mates thanked me for it as they were sick of him too. Did that qualify me as a good or bad ref or a hungover ref that didnt want to hear his crap.

If he noticed his error and corrected it there and then I guess you can't complain.

I've run the line where a player has been offside, put the flag up, and once was aware the ball wasn't going to the player concerned put it back down again.

I've got the fantasy football dvd and in that they interviewed a top flight referee, who said his duristrictions start when he arrives at the venue, and has awarded a yellow card in the parking lot. Players don't necessarily have to be on the park to be shown a card of either color.

Couple of times on the weekend at Gully Vs Vista the Vista linesman put his flag up (& all 3 times he was right btw) & the ref just ignored him & said play on. I was standing right behind him aswell. His decisions didnt affect the game i think but still thought it was a bit weird.

The referee is allowed to change his/her decision provided the game has not resumed.

The referee is not obliged to follow his/her assistants. It is advisory: the referee is in charge and makes the final decision.

Rob Lozza it didn't bother me that the ref decided to play on because we were on the attack when he did so. I just thought it was a bit weird that's all. I know it is the refs right to ignore the linesman and wave play on. Anyway doesnt matter there were no goals from it anyway.

I beg to differ as do our friends at FIFA.com

Law 12 states
"The referee has the authority to take disciplinary sanctions, as from the
moment he enters the field of play until he leaves the field of play
after the final whistle."

Hence the confetti can only be shown in these times... oh yeah... this DOES include half time intervals so don't go chasing the ref into the changerooms at half time or you might find yourself with an early shower!!

Mind you, the referee does have the authority to report any incidents to the controlling body, e.g. FFSA, if he feels a player/coach has breached their Code of Conduct at any time of the day/week/year!!

You know a ref is bad when........

He calls disabled people names and pushes them over in the street.

He robs from old people.

He is a pedophile.

He is a terrorist.

He rapes, kills and eats your wife.

He kicks dogs for no reason.

He flashes at a bingo queue.

He picks his nose and wipes it on people.

He slips rohypnol into your pint then gives you the vomitting dummy all night.

And the worst.....................

He refs for Raptors B's.
