droping players to win
it is sad to see teams dropping players down an age group to win games when it has no bearing on the ladder.
i saw a team today play at the best of thier abillty to win and they held this team until the oppisite team decided to field players from a age group above them they ended up winning .i thought we were hear to develop young kids ,not destroy them

Singing an old tune unfortunately mate. Only the Clubs and more importantly the Federation can stop this happening EVERY week.eagles wrote:it is sad to see teams dropping players down an age group to win games when it has no bearing on the ladder.

It is the clubs that want this not the federation....the rule at the start of the season was that you could only play one game but the clubs complained and it was changed to allow players to do this. The sad reality is that it is a win at all costs mentality that is only there because players will choose to move from a club that gets dropped to B grade in order to play A grade!
Do the Federation make the rules or are they set by the Clubs? No sarcasm here...just askingHollygirl wrote:It is the clubs that want this not the federation....the rule at the start of the season was that you could only play one game but the clubs complained and it was changed to allow players to do this. yeh true but some clubs do it a bit and at the higher age levels but there are clubs that do it at the u12-u13 level alot especially dropping a's to b's and they strt at this time of the year depending on where their teams are positioned on the ladders . pity they didnt have an a- league team they might have won sat nite.corona wrote:old tune this , but once again clubs can and will do this , its allowed . so no point starting this topic every two to three weeks .

The reality is, it is not about developing players, it is about putting together winning teams. You can be the worlds greatest coach but the pressure is on to win games and be in the A grade not to develop and improve. Everyone needs to take some responsibility for this. Question....do you have your child play for a club whose team is in the B grade who have a wonderful coach that will teach and develop or the team that is in the A grade who abuses the kids and has a win at all cost mentality? Answer honestly....

:? Hollygirl I know all kids and coaches want to win and so do Parents but at what cost and what are we teaching younger kids it all seems to be getting all to serious at such young ages
I dont think there is any thing wrong in a B side some times kids have a off season and all kids develope at different rates at least if clubs have B sides kids have somewhere to go if not quite good enough for the A
It should be about the love of the game and Development not A & B

from the other side
There is also the other side to consider for some clubs a squad of 14, 1 breaks his arm, 1 in hospital for 6 weeks others sick and go overseas with 10 players what are they supposed to do they have to bring players up or down.
What should happen though is that if a player plays up/down more than 3 times then they can no longer play for that time without permission from FFSA. That way they could only be used when actually required due to sickness etc

There is the answer in your own question.theone wrote:There is also the other side to consider for some clubs a squad of 14, 1 breaks his arm, 1 in hospital for 6 weeks others sick and go overseas with 10 players what are they supposed to do they have to players bring up or down.

I believe this is an excellent solution and one which happens in a number of sports...in addition I don't know any other sport that allows players to play more than one competitive game in a day....theone wrote:There is also the other side to consider for some clubs a squad of 14, 1 breaks his arm, 1 in hospital for 6 weeks others sick and go overseas with 10 players what are they supposed to do they have to bring players up or down.

I agree with you soccer mum....without wanting to be sexist I think the issue is often the soccer dads.....there are very few that will choose the developmental coach in a B side they would rather see their child in an A side. This means that clubs will push to "win at all costs" to see their teams in the A grade.....maybe zones would be an option...soccer mum wrote::? I have to agree with u guys but as younger players grow up and become better at the game, the enjoyment of the game decreases and the hunger and passion to just win comes in. Nobody once to lose big games these days so if dropping a player who is eleigible to play or even promoting younger players is needed than by all means the coach should do it on that given day and NOT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!

Droping 19's
That's why Adel City are doing so well in the league. (Unlucky they can't do that in the Semi Final's against Modbury)

my team played one match agaisnt the Toros and they had players from a higher league that had a red card from the match b4! so they brought down 2 good players...we ended up drawing with them 4-4...recently we played them again...funily enough without the 2 good players and we won 6-1!!!

Calcio & Silent P, you are both right and others need to look at the REAL reasons these players may be coming down,
1. Poor form, need to re-gain confidence.
2. Discipline.
3. New players signed up in age group above.
4. Club policies.
5. Need an 'easier' game to play after coming back from an injury.
.
.
.
27. Geez we have to beat this team 'cause they're top
Had to put that one in there as we all know it exists.

Yes Barney, no.27 does exist but it is not cheating if the players are eligible.
My question 2 people who think it is cheating, what is the difference if you call a U16 player who is outstanding and call him up to play for the U17 team? Is he not replacing an existing squad player? Is that classified as cheating??
