Went to see Chelsea v Team America yesterday at Stanford, USA.

Chelsea went behind early in the game but came back to win 2-1. The mexicans made them work. Good game by John Terry and Joe Cole was in fine form. Robben looked lively early and Droghba worked hard when he came on in the second half.

Good crowd 47000 in scorching heat.

VORONIN OFF THE MARK AS REDS BEAT BREMEN

Andriy Voronin was a two-goal marksman as Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to pre-season with a 3-2 victory over Werder Bremen in Grenchen, Switzerland.

John Arne Riise was also on the scoresheet in a game that saw Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun make their debuts for the Reds.

Ukraine striker Voronin netted his first goal for the club after just four minutes to open the scoring, capitalizing on a misplaced defensive pass and rounding the keeper before slotting into an empty net.

Bremen then drew level through Schindler two minutes later but Riise restored the lead when smashing the ball home from 30-yards out in the 14th minute.

The impressive Voronin was a constant threat up front and doubled his tally on the hour mark with well-taken finish after latching onto a defence-splitting through ball.

Torres, who twice went close to opening his account, Babel and Benayoun all appeared as second half substitutes as Rafael Benitez took the opportunity to give the majority of his squad a run-out.

Hugo Almeida managed to pull a goal back late in the game but Liverpool held on to claim a third successive summer win.

Teams
Liverpool: Carson, Riise, Hyypia, Paletta, Finnan, El Zhar, Gerrard MBE, Hobbs, Pennant, Crouch, Voronin (captain). Subs - Agger, Babel, Kuyt, Benayoun, Carragher, Darby, Arbeloa, Torres, Mihaylov, Alonso, Sissoko

Werder Bremen: Wiese, Baumann, Fritz, Rosenberg, Andreason, Alberto, Frings (captain), Borowski, Niemeyer, Schulz, Schindler. Subs - Bischoff, Vranjes, Loning, Pellatz, Almelda, Jensen, Wome

Referee: Daniel Wermelinger

Conditions: Humid

Attendance: 10,180

Lazio held Stuttgart to a 1-1 draw in their first major friendly of the season with Stefano Mauri on target.

The Biancocelesti took on the Bundesliga side at the Franz Feteke Stadium in Kapfenberg, where they are holding their pre-season training.

The Italians had taken the lead after just eight minutes of play thanks to a goal from midfielder Mauri, but Farnerud drew level before the half-hour mark.

There were many substitutions for both sides in the second half and Lazio’s best chances to sneak a win fell to Christian Manfredini and Simone Inzaghi.

Delio Rossi’s squad will enter the Champions League preliminary round on August 14 or 15.

Inter, Roma and Milan are already qualified for the tournament proper.

Shevenko came on in the 2nd half and got the biggest reception (lots of Ukrainians here). He looked sharp. Not sure about Pizzaro but I did get a picture on my phone as the players came in, of a tall italian looking guy. I am not a Chelsea fan so I wasnt sure who he was. I now realise I saw Robben's last game for Chelsea now that he is off to Real. He looked sharp too.
