henry 'past it' - mirror

interesting, dunno if true, but time will tell
THIERRY 'PAST IT'
By Martin Lipton 05/07/2007
ARSENE WENGER let Thierry Henry join Barcelona because he had scientific proof the former skipper was past it.
Wenger took the final decision to sanction Henry's £16million move to the Nou Camp and his stance was backed by the Gunners board.
It emerged last night that the Arsenal boss had studied the physiological statistics and read-outs and reached the conclusion that, just like Patrick Vieira two years ago, Henry was over the hill.
An Arsenal insider said: "Arsene was given the statistics, hard and fast figures, about Thierry's performance levels.
"If he'd wanted to keep Henry, he would have remained. But the stats suggested his performance levels were drifting away pretty rapidly."
The cold-blooded decision to let Henry go is further evidence of the analytical approach that has created the most successful era in Arsenal history.

yeh thats true....AW knows and i think he has made the right choicebarbarez01 wrote:AW is right when it comes to assesing players.. he got it right with patrick who has been shite since he left and now i believe that he will be correct about letting Henry leave!
Juventino is right....Vieira has been good for Juve and Inter but when he played against us he did shiraz all so that to me proved it was a good move as Cesc filled in the void very well so quickly

winning a scudetto in a non competative league (juve relegated, milan docked points).. let me see him try and win one fair and square for once not that it was inters fault the other teams that cheated previously but lets see how inter goes with everyone starting from 0..Huntelaar wrote:hes been crap by winning a scudetto?barbarez01 wrote:AW is right when it comes to assesing players.. he got it right with patrick who has been shite since he left and now i believe that he will be correct about letting Henry leave!
He won a fair one with Juve in 2005/06...
And forget that Milan were docked points. Did Milan finish less than 8 points behind Inter? No they didn't, so it doesn't really come into the equation. What does matter is taht Inter were too good for everyone last season. You don't win 17 games in a row and go unbeaten for 33? games if you are crap.
I want to see Inter fail this season, but let's not deny them the accolades they deserve for last season's win.

yes they would have been 3rd if the docked points had been taken away from them at the end of the season, but we dont know how it feels to be docked points and to start a new season not level with everyone else.. it affects each player in the team and the teams performances as a whole, milans confidence and team morale was very low before the season had even kicked off..

After all he've done to the club over the past few seasons, this is the 'credit' he got from the fans...
lol .. typical arsenal fans lol ...LFTWNG11 wrote:dont worry ronaldo07, i think i agree with you for once... first Arsenal supporters were saying how they would be a force next season with henry fit and ready to go, now they are going to be even better cos they sold Henry and he was never going to be back to his best.

"Statistics, statistics, more dammed lies and statistics." as one wit wrote.
Fortunately, statistics are just figures on paper and don't actually prove anything, except that they reach the pre-conceived conclusions of their compilers.
In real life, it is talent and determination to succeed that are important and Henty has both in abundance.
He will succeed because he is a great player.
