Some reserve players dont even stay till the end of their game... they just kick a hole in the wall and leave swearing at the coach. Whoever plays pumas next week in the Bs look out for the big angry stirker- he may help u set up the nets before the game but chances are ull get flattened before half time!Handy_man wrote:must be the shrinkage factor with the cold weather we're havingonthepissagain wrote:some teams dont even shower after a game. why would you want the smelly ferals to stay for a drink

well dont put posts up if you dont want people to voice an opinion other than yours!!!
nobody is being judged.....public forums and this democracy we live in allows us freedom of speech and opinion......
i appreciate you are the type of person who has to have the last say but have a look at the following comments made since yesterday AND TELL ME IF PEOPLE ARE BEING JUDGED OR NOT!!!
if you cant follow an arguement...thats your bad not mine so bugger off and go fight another battle like.....asking the council to fix the state of your pitch!!!
CHEERS TO THE BRAHMA LADS WHO STAYED FOR A DRINK, OH SORRY
THEY DIDN'T REPAY THE FAVOUR, BOUGHT THERE OWN BEER TO THE GAME, DIDN'T COME IN FOR A BEER. AS WE DRANK THERE BEER AT THE ROUND 2 GAME , AND WENT INTO THERE CLUB AFTER THE GAME.
MAYBE JUST SORE LOSERS
I WOULD EXPECT MORE FROM PAT DOBBIN AND THE BOYS
and thanks to no one from san marco for not staying for a drink.....sorry lads but we dont stock hair product however we had an abundance of tissues.....we'll keep that in mind for next year when we come to your ground....oh sorry i mean campbelltowns ground and pay ridiculous prices for drinks.....
IT'S PRETTY ORDINARY WHEN AFTER A GAME YOU DON'T GO IN FOR A DRINK, WHEN WE PLAY MACO'S EVEN AFTER WHAT HAPPENED EARLY IN THE THE YEAR, WE WILL STILL GO IN FOR A DRINK, MAYBE WE ARE JUST PISS HEADS
Thats 3 times in 2 topics you've mentioned that now Pecker head. Try getting your facts straight next time, I must have been dreaming that I was in your club with 3 other people from our club for 20 minutes after the game, drinking beers that had been purchased (not for the first time) from your bar. My aplologies for not hanging around longer to collect a drink driving charge. I cant speak on behalf of anyone else from the club who may not have gone in, that is their decision.
Hey Handyman in case you didnt notice the B players used your bar/canteen after the game and to be honest i didnt find much difference in prices, unless paying one dollar less is a huge saving, i think you are the one that needs some tissues , if no one from the A's hung around i will admit that this is poor
very poor effort from most the vista people as regards hanging round after games, it the same old same old.
shame most clubs arent like the florina prez and co. their normally last ones out!! croatia boyz were great but not to much after game socializing in div 2!!
what mumber is he? i will keep an eye out for him. will let him have a shot at trying to flatten meFootball_lad wrote:Some reserve players dont even stay till the end of their game... they just kick a hole in the wall and leave swearing at the coach. as for all the comments that followed they are the result of the thread YOU posted...... surely you werent expecting everyone to agree with you??
and finally that was a killer comeback about the pitch....the council wanted to dig up the 4 foot deep concrete slab but we told them no please dont because we want to give tools on the forum a final comeback when all else fails....... thank you salisbury council for respecting our wishes....

agreed that plympton are probably the best hosts ive come across so far, invited us in for a few drinks, put on some free grub, had a few beers had a chat, had a laugh with them and their clubrooms are fu**ing mint! and BULLDOG as for vista being the same old same old you are right, you have to realise though that there are alot of younger lads at the club at the minute and they havent really grasped the whole idea of getting there a bit early, playing your game, staying afterwards and having a feed and a drink they just seem to rock up for their game and leave again, i think that we would be one of the better hosts around though and never take our own drink to other clubs grounds, that is just poor.

young lads or not its all about having a bevvy and a laugh with your team mates.i think age can't be thrown in the mix whenever this topic comes up.and having said that there's alot of older players that don't hang arround either.perhaps the plans to build our own club rooms should go on the back burner as it would mainly be used after senior trainings and games and we don't have the atmosphere at the club to make it work.

Agreed Bulldog
however if we want to play at the highest level, encouraging players to drink after each training and game would'nt be productive, thats the reason i would be against 'Vista Dollars' too.
I reckon the club house would be good because as well as a few pokies and a bit of grub it could be used by families on other nights and also functions.

The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!

G'day Mega,MegaBonus wrote:why do people continuously mention whether or not the opposition fans stayed behind for drinks. is that the only way we can judge the opposition??? cant people catch up before or during the game???
i can think of countless of reasons why i need to leave soon after the final whistle on a sun evening!!!!
ive been playing amatuers since 1988 from div 1 down to div 5 and now back upto div 2 with 2 different teams. i have played against just about every team there is to play!!! and they are all different. some teams do and some dont, it doesnt make them bad or good get over it!!!
Saying "thanks for staying back for drinks" is just showing appreciation. Its great for smaller/all clubs to have people stay back for drinks. Helps with that bit of extra cash and creates a good atmosphere in the clubrooms. Not only that, catching up with the opposition for a beer is abit of tradition i reckon. Plus, when I meet some opposition players and get to know them a little better off the field. It seems like i want to beat them twice as badly on it

exactly right redders....its a tradition of amateur soccer and the social aspect is probably part of the reason some of us older guys are still around......ive played in the feds where it is frowned upon if you stay at the bar too long or hang around too late for the less than attractive remuneration........ id rather have a kick and a drink with team mates and opposition on a sunday...... hell ive met people of all trades and backgrounds through this practice who have assisted me with building houses etc etc...... its called networking Mega and hanging around is an institution we should protect, promote and respect as i presume we are all adult enough to be sociable win, lose or draw

i whole heartedly agree!!!! thats the reason why we play!! having played with the old rostrevor/payneham united in the late 80's early 90's it used to happen a lot more.
however, times have changed, peoples circumstances are different. all i ever asked was why is it the sole criteria used to judge clubs (i havent taken it personally because neither i nor my current club has been criticised).
i would value the opposition just as much if they played the game hard but fair and left the by-play on the pitch.

i agree with that there is always the same few at vista that hang around, but who wants to stand out in the cold and drink. Maybe if we were aloud to use our clubrooms it would be a bit different. We are taking a table tennis table up there for thursday so maybe some of the vista boys will stay have a few games and have a drinkBULLDOG wrote:mackem in blue wrote:agreed that plympton are probably the best hosts ive come across so far, invited us in for a few drinks, put on some free grub, had a few beers had a chat, had a laugh with them and their clubrooms are fu**ing mint! and BULLDOG as for vista being the same old same old you are right, you have to realise though that there are alot of younger lads at the club at the minute and they havent really grasped the whole idea of getting there a bit early, playing your game, staying afterwards and having a feed and a drink they just seem to rock up for their game and leave again, i think that we would be one of the better hosts around though and never take our own drink to other clubs grounds, that is just poor.

Number 7. You will see the stupid blonde bit in the back of his hair. Not sure if he will play this week though didnt seem like he was going to be playing at all any more after what he was saying after doing renovations in the vista changerooms.onthepissagain wrote:what mumber is he? i will keep an eye out for him. will let him have a shot at trying to flatten meFootball_lad wrote:Some reserve players dont even stay till the end of their game... they just kick a hole in the wall and leave swearing at the coach. After the Downs v Vale game a boat load of their supporters came into the club and stayed till late due to the fact the Downs threw on a band that was red hot. The Downs have also invested in a couple of the standing gas heaters as well which makes it a bit more enticing. Maybe it depends on when you do the player incentives. Do you hold off until 5.30pm and see how it pans out. Family and kids do not help especially if you have to go to Fulham and do not get home till late..Some blokes are lucky they can play soccer let alone enjoy a bevy due to the fact their better halfs have got their balls in vice..
