Funds Made For Torres :D
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reviving his bid for Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres.
The Sunday Mirror says United's move to land £10 million-rated Italian international Fabio Quagliarella looks doomed after Udinese outbid Sampdoria in a tender to secure the striker's services next season.
So Ferguson has turned his attentions back to long-term target Torres, who now looks likely to leave the club he has supported all his life after Atletico failed to qualify for Europe.
They can raise cash by selling Alan Smith and Giuseppe Rossi, while Louis Saha will also be made available before the end of August if he recovers full fitness after a knee operation.

and you ask me what about him i dont like?!?!?! see ive watched him in Spain and he isnt that great. defiantely not 27m pounds worth. Just cos he scores goals against Tunisia and the Ukraine doesnt make him a world beater.Rigoni 10 wrote:i've never watched him play in Spain....only saw his goals at World Cup....never watched him play a full game on tv

torres is a great young player with loads of potential! if we get him we wont pay over the odds... i hear borough want smith since the departure of vidukes and sum otha key players!
anelka is a gun, i wish we got him... hes proven in the epl, was great with arsenal and great with liverpool(shoulda held onto him), and did the job in spain!
huntalaar is a gun, but its only the dutch league, but then again ruud did the same and came 2 england and dominated!

voronin, crouch, bellamy and kuyt are?? yes torres is probably overrated at this stage but im sure which ever club lands his signature will see more positives than negatives out of it , on and off the fieldLFTWNG11 wrote:and you ask me what about him i dont like?!?!?! see ive watched him in Spain and he isnt that great. defiantely not 27m pounds worth. Torres is a gun. No matter what you say about him it's evident he's been doing something right to keep Atletico in the top 6 this season. He has been their youngest captain and his leadership is wanted around many, many La Liga clubs.
I would love to see him play at United, maybe even Liverpool - he's quick, got a powerfull shot and can shake off defenders without trouble. I think you would be suprised if he put his hand up to move to another Spanish club, how many would want him....
Not sure how he'll go in England, but I'd say that his athletic abilities (i.e speed, agility and power) will be enough to keep him in the competition and I very much doubt he'll become a flop.
As for Atletico, losing Torres is like losing Henry at Arsenal to them. He's been their insparation but they'll need to move on.

well then lets both hope Torres goes to United, seeing as i dnt want him at Pool and you obvisouly rate him highly. Id rather not spend the money than waste on him. 40m pounds for Eto'o is a lot better value than 27m pounds for Torres.manU4life wrote:voronin, crouch, bellamy and kuyt are?? yes torres is probably overrated at this stage but im sure which ever club lands his signature will see more positives than negatives out of it , on and off the fieldLFTWNG11 wrote:and you ask me what about him i dont like?!?!?! see ive watched him in Spain and he isnt that great. defiantely not 27m pounds worth. thats funny...i dont remember stating how highly i rate him....yes id rather eto but id dont see how signing torres can be anything but positive for any team who gets him.LFTWNG11 wrote:well then lets both hope Torres goes to United, seeing as i dnt want him at Pool and you obvisouly rate him highly. houlier wasted a lot in his time and the pool turned out alright....LFTWNG11 wrote:how can wasting 27m pounds be positive, please enlighten me.
if torres comes in to a squad and scores and creates goals and is positive in general play and this leads to success on and off the pitch then i cannot see it being anything but positive. strengthening squads is the key to domestic success and not just making cup runs, maybe liverpool should learn this instead of bringing in duds on frees
all im saying is why spend 27m pounds on Torres, when you can get someone like Bent who would be jsut as if not more effective for 10m pounds less?!?! i dnt rate Torres and thats that... if you do well then fantastic, but he's not a 27m player, hes a 15-20m pounds at the most... i can understnad why Rafa doesnt want to spend money on hype, but he still needs to throw 30m+ pounds at a world class, its jsut Torres isnt world class.
