I'd like to think that we are still one of the best reserve sides going around. We copped a few injuries so lost some key players but they are coming back. Every team gets that though. We have beaten the top two sides in the last two weeks but the real test comes against the Downs in the league when we have them at home. I think it will be hard for us to catch them with the lead we have given them but you never know.

As for other reserve sides, Downs obviously, Wanderers and Para Hills West. Gardens weren't to bad either. Florina need some fitness otherwise they are very skilled.

In Div 2 I have only seen West Beach which was a trial game and to be fair, most of their players aren't their normal B grade players. Who is top of Div 2 B

Good reserves sides come from clubs that have a strong a's squad with a few too many players but minimal rotation, farm proved that last year.
Are you joking? Granted I have only seen Modbury Vista's B team once this year and that was in a pre-season friendly, but how can you day they are (along with the Downs) the best reserve side in the amateur league when they are sitting 4th in Div 2?

Cove, BOSA, Stirling & Old Ignatians have always been competetive in the reserves set up. Cove and Ignatians both winning the cup in recent times (and cover a runners up as well).

Because if you look a little bit closer what i actually put forward are the best teams from last year ( best from div one and best from div 2) and the best teams this year (best in div 1 and best in div 2)

Make sense yet?? i'll break it down for you:

downs best last year in div 1.
downs best this year in div 1.
farm best last year in div 2.
vista best this year in div 2.

vista could have gone top with a win away at west beach on the weekend and finished second in the league last year and in my opinion have the strongest reserves side in the league.
Don't be patronising, what you put forward was frankly as clear as mud. You make it sound like you presented some type of pattern. However you didn't because although Farm's B's last year were the best side in Div 2, they were probably also the best reserve side in the amateur league along with the Downs given that they won the cup. So your post could clearly be read either way.

I cannot argue with you though that vista's B's are the best side in Div 2, I have not seen anyone play. You may well be right, especially given how close it is at the top in that league.

Not only is the mighty Beach the best, we are also the most handsome.

statistics dont lie. Downs only beaten once in the league in the last two seasons. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. Downs consistantly good.

Trust me, the jump from Div 2 B's to Div 1 B's is huge. You have to play very well every week or you drop points. That what happened to us against Gardens and Vale. Lets not talk about the Downs, we just didn't show up that day and they killed us. Westies would be the second best team we have played this year.

I don't think we can definately say we were the best team last year because we didn't play in Div 1. We didn't have to perform week in week out against better quality opposition (no disrespect to Div 2 teams last year). We beat Vista 7-1 in the final game of the season to win the league, we beat Bosna 13-0 (I even scored twice). If we had to play agains better teams each week, we might not of won the cup. We got the Downs on a bad day but we did beat them fair and sqaure. Over the season though, its fair to say they were a better team than us last year.

I cant really say in div1 reserves as i have not watched any games. But i have heard downs are a decent side.

But in Div2 reserves i dont think west beach are the best, there not bad but all they do is pump it long and run not much knocking it around. (were very lucky to beat us) next time round i dont think it will be the same though. Vista are a good side but lads just remember the score when you played us. :D GO THE GULLY

But really every team can play well 1 week and not so good the next. I know we have seen the not so good days

last year (2006 ) the downs were the best but couldnt win the cup
2005, Inter were the best winning both league and cup

imho i would say the best reserves sides since 2000 would be ( in no particular order ) downs, inter ( struggling this year )and cove

The Downs in Div 1...Ingle Farm had a great B side last year and when we played them pre-season nothing much had changed.

In Div2 , There are four teams at the top with only a point or two between them.TTG , Vista, Pontians and the Beach. Beach side against Vista was light a few players and you got a soft penalty. We had more chances and play. However, you are a good side but we have played better..

TTG have a lot of young players with pace and they play to that strength.First 10 mins of our game I thought we were in for a hammering but we got on top and scrapped a win(although we gifted you 2 goals)

Pontians, we were deserving beaten 4-0 ! The morning after an FA Cup is not the best time to play football.

TTG are the best B side in Div 2 at the moment because they are top of the table!!

Wanderers reserves have not lost a league game... full stop.

They would have to be in contention.

I dont think so mate. Vista on Sunday were the better side and were very unlucky not to come away with 3 points.

Westies beat you guys by 6 or 7 in a canter pre-season, pre-season doesnt mean much at all, you should base you thoughts on the actual season results.

I would say in Div 1 its the Downs, Farm & Westies. Farm also beat Westies 2-0 at the weekend, its close up the top.

I agree with Beach Driller with his Div 2 picks. Our B's at TTG are sitting top at the moment. Also Pontians (2nd) & Beach (3rd) are solid sides aswell. Vista (4th) have some young players aswell but we played quite well against them. Theres only 3 points from 1st to 4th so its gonna be a great 2nd half of the season.

Impossible! You can't improve on perfection. Too good for the B's. The A's is where he should be unleashed.

Was nice tights though. I was drooling all night. :)

I don't think you were the better side. It was a good game but pretty even. You got a soft penalty, we got lucky with the equaliser but we could have had a penalty that wasn't given either. We had chances but couldn't take them and were missing quite a few players.

It was played in good spirit and enjoyable and I'll look forward to playing again.

I have had harder games this season against TTG so I feel they are probably better than you but form can come and go.

There isn't much in it between the top four ressie teams. Whoever want's it more should come through in the second half of the season.

Having played Div 1 and Div2 in the last to years there is no comparison between the Divs. Div 1 is far more competitive and a lot stronger league. Last year I would have said both leagues are a lot closer then people think but now playing in Div 1 it is chalk and cheese. Given that the Downs must be rated as the best reserves team over the past two years, Ressies Champs and Runner up in the Cup in 07 and are currently sitting clear top this year.

Having seen the Downs a few times I don't think a lot of the Downs Ressie players would walk into any other top 5 Div 1 first team, there is quite a jump between the A's and B's and most regular Ressie players struggle to adjust to the pace of the A's, although a Ressies player would disagree until they do it.
