Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Question: Why isnt there a proper Futsal league in SA? Or am I just wrong?
I think you will find there is. I heard tonight one of the best teams play at woodville high school tuesday nights. Training 2-3 nights per week etc..
.. and a few futsal junior here in Adelaide will be going to watch the futsal world cup next year in brazil, so yes i think there is a futsal league up and running.

Open Men Futsal Competitions ???
I think you will find that if all centres join up with Futsal SA the Competitions and the profile of the game will certainly be lifted. At the moment there are too many centres playing with the big tennis ball or the Rebound game as we call it.
With over 900 kids from the ages of 8 to 19 in the East and in the North the game is progressing.
If you know of a Stadium available for Futsal we would like to hear about it!! This has always been the stumbling block, finding the right stadium and the availability.

Futsal the greatest game in the world. Now if Aussies new why the Brazilians kept Futsal a secret for so long, you would think everybody would be playing futsal fulltime. Take a look at http://www.adelaidestingrays.com.au and check your nearest futsal club, they will have one nearest to you and go and have a look for yourself or even better go and meet the man that coaches with passion and knows the game. You might get an opportunity to tour interstate with Stingrays Team or even better go to Brazil to watch the world cup, and while there train in one of the camps so you train like a Brazilian, eat like a brazilian, walk like a brazilian, dance like a brazilian, you need to see it for yourself to understand how far behind we really are. Take the time to compare.

Most of the squads this year were made of new players and some teams i believe were ALL new players.
Besides if the players don't come to the trials then how are they gonna get selected

Sting> why isn't your Stingray Futsal club affilliated to the FFSA or Futsal SA. If your programs are so good and so well organised why wouldn't you want your players representing their country Australia? and not to go on O/S trips for the fun of it?
Where does all the money go from this club?

Our futsal programs are the best going around, most professional and experienced coaches, we open new venues to give every child/adult the opportunity to play this great game. We have a calendar of events yearly and tour overseas once or twice a year. Money generated goes back into program to help ad make it affordable for all age groups. Ring 1300 FUTSAL get indoor and feel the sting with stingrays futsal programs.

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Its always an intense and exciting time when finals come around, last night seeing some really good Futsal (well nearly) being played in both Divisions and producing some upsets.
Division 2
Last Resort who have won this competition for the last three seasons are going for a record fourth 2nd Division title after booking their Grand Final appearance winning over the Brazilians Ginga. Both teams started the game playing cautiously, which the Referees had to calm down a couple of players, one from each side in this close encounter issuing yellow cards to two of them. It was a fine and disciplined performance by the Champions with their youngest recruit young Andrew Pilkson displaying maturity, some fine skill and good vision. Dario Pesaturo's hat trick and M. Staltari's two goals silenced the Brazilians in the second half. Ginga seemed undermanned not having their full nine players and now have to wait until next week to see if they are going to make the Grand Final for the first time. Jorge Arterio and Javier Lopez got the goals for Ginga.
Score: Last Resort 5-2 Ginga
Cautions: Jorge (G) and Claude Criscitelli (LR)
In the Elimination Final, Graveyardaz were so very disappointing, bowing out of the finals with a big hole in the defence getting trashed by last season's runner up team Mali Hrvati. Nenad Lonic's team were on song in this game with once again the younger brother Josip in goal making some fine saves to keep another clean sheet. Graveyardaz had no answers, so its back to the drawing board for them and hope that next season will be a better one. The Croation side will be hoping to keep this form up for next week against Ginga for a chance to repeat last season's Grand Final against Last Resort where they were unfortunate to have played with only 4 players when they had their 5th player get injured in the game and without any substitues.
Score: Mali Hrvati 8, Graveyardaz 0
Cautions: Pravin Pillay (Gr)
1st Division
What a game for Da Mario's to be undermanned, they were without the services of top strikers Joe Rechichi, Chad Bugeja and Frank Ammirato in its line up. Cold Gin thought their Easter present came even earlier this year with Larry Piscioneri in goals making many a good save. Adrian Papa solid in Defence and two goals apiece from Jason Cummins and Jordan Darcy gave Cold Gin an upseting result victory over third time Champions Da Marios booking their place in the grand Final. Da Mario had the experienced Mehran Gebleh, Laurie Berlingeri, Robert McDonald and MJ Casalbore in the team with young David Savino, but Cold Gin were far too strong.
Score: Cold Gin 4, Da Marios 0
Cautions: David Savino (DMs)
In the Elimination Final Bada Bing had Da Playaz's Josip Lonic in goal to contend with to have any chance of making it to the 2nd Semi Final next week against Da Marios. Last year's finalists and runner up Da Playaz were in good form and had everyone in the team get on the score sheet. Harry Antoniou got over his injury and seemed to get his fitness back making some great individual runs scoring a hat trick. Nick Karandrikis scored twice and one apiece to Alex Dimitriou and ALex Ziakis.
Bada Bing tried all game playing some good Futsal too and getting four goals, two to Robbie Ficiadente and another two to Giuseppe Tauriello, they could have had more but for the many saves from Josip who is hoping to play in both the 1st and 2nd Division Grand Finals this season. (He's not greedy is he?)
Score: Bada Bing 4, Da playaz 7
Cautions: Robbie Ficciadente (BB) Aex Zaikis (DP)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next week's matches - 18th of March
8.10pm - 2nd Division Semi Final Ginga v Mali Hrvati
9.10pm - 2st Division Semi Final Da Playaz v Da Marios

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Great idea.
Maybe I can suggest that we let Vikings run Futsal in SA as they have the most experience and knowledge and it all comes with out any politics.
Just like a staff member at Futsal FFSA and Stingrays boys did 2 years ago. They played in our Asia Pacific Vikings Futsal League. They are not affiliated with Vikings but played in our competitions to get quality opposition and valuable experience.
What do you thing guys lets make it work!!!!
So who are the Vikings you might ask?
Vikings Futsal started in Queensland 20 years ago and is a not-for-profit organisation, which puts back into the grass roots of Futsal, and also gives opportunities to players to play all year round and to travel OS as well.
If you want to see more about the career paths Vikings offers have a look at our website http://www.vikingsfutsal.com
Vikings Futsal is played through out Australia, New Zealand and China with offices to open in the UK this year and the USA and Canada next.
Vikings have at last count over 31,000 registered players, compared to all other Futsal states of around 16,000 players.
We hold the largest organised Futsal tournament in the World that's correct “World” which had 1,600 teams compete last year and this year we are hoping to get 2000 teams.
Futsal is played in Qld all year round and is a subject in their school system hence the quality of players produced from there.
Opportunities to make Rep teams from juniors to senior men and women.
Opportunities to go overseas on a regular basis with Rep teams to play and learn from the best Futsal players around. We have been sending team on Tours for over 10 years to all parts of the world.
Australia wide insurance cover.
Only Australasian Futsal organisation recognised by EBF (Escola Brasileira De Futebol, http://www.ebfnet.com.br).
Vikings Futsal are the only organisation contracted by EBF (Brazil Football Education) to send players and teams to their National training centre where the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Kaka train and sleep.
A bit of trivia for you! Did you know that in Italy (World Cup Holders) there are more registered Futsal players than outdoor players? That says enough for Futsal let alone how good the Brazilians are because of Futsal.
If you have been selected for a Vikings representative team to tour interstate or overseas, you have been selected from the largest Futsal player base in Australasia.
So if you are genuinely serious about your Futsal then call me to play with the Vikings.

We will be the only club in Australia that will be able to offer your child the complete (Soccer / Futsal / Beach Soccer) Brazilian Football Package.
No one offers the complete package for players to develop. We are about developing players to their full potential not winning trophies but also giving them the opportunity to trial overseas. Here in Australia we worry about winning not allowing players to be creative and to express themselves. We will neve compete with the rate we are going, need to change the culture, everybody now give your child a ball to play were ever they go. Natural ability is hard to be born with.
Adelaide Stingrays Futsal offer the Brazilian approach to teaching Futsal, bringing you all the characteristics of modern Futsal in a fun atmoshere. The rapid growth in number of children participating in Futsal has a huge demand and popularity in this country.
Our Junior Futsal programmes quickly develop skills required for soccer: - balance, motor ability, agility and co-ordination, ball mastery, accurate and quick passing and receiving, perception insight and awareness.
Children learn through repetition and practice in small areas this occurs naturally. As Futsal is fast and action packed, fitness is improved while learning and having fun. Futsal is the only FIFA approved five-a-side soccer game. It is played on a basketball style court, with no walls and a low bouncing ball, necessitating players to use their skills rather than the balls bounce to propel it.
Great soccer stars such as Pele, Ronaldinho, Maradona, Denilson, Zico and Ronaldo grew up playing the game and attribute Futsal with developing their silky skills. Futsal is played by an estimated 30 million players throughout the world is soon to be an Olympic sport.
Adelaide Stingrays Futsal to expand develop and promote the game of Futsal in South Australia, improving standards in all sectors of the game such as quality of play, facilities, administration and coaching, while increasing the number of participants in all sectors of the local community.
Our Futsal training focuses on developing superior ball skills, balance and spatial awareness - the attributes of the complete player. We believe that our program of Futsal training is unique. We know of no other program in South Australia offering the caliber of training provided by the Adelaide Stingrays Futsal training program.
We can assure that the Adelaide Stingrays Futsal training will improve the skills of each player, providing the foundation for future individual and team success in soccer. Our philosophy is that individual and team success in soccer is built upon a strong foundation of individual skills.
Come to our Stingrays Futsal/Soccer Boot Camp and experience the individualized instruction that is the hallmark of all Stingrays camps. We will be offering one or two day camps. Our clinics focus on developing individual skills, a crucial aspect of a player's development that often receives insufficient attention during normal team training sessions. We emphasize ball control skills that provide the player the ability and confidence to play at the higher levels.
Our camps provide the player a challenging environment, where he or she can develop their potential to the fullest. Each day consists of sessions designed on developing quickness, foot skills, shooting, trapping, finishing, and movement on and off the ball and full field scrimages. Developing skilled and confident players is our goal and we believe that Futsal is one of our most valuble tools. I would encourage each of you to come and see first hand what Futsal training is all about.

Stingrays are still in the process of chatting to FFSA, hopefully it will be finalised soon.

Anyone interested can contact 1300 FUTSAL for times and directions or email adelaidestingray@bigpond.com
Stingrays are still in the process of chatting to FFSA, hopefully it will be finalised soon.

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
why isnt there an official futsal league in SA...
because there are interfering bodies( go ask sting and viking) that split the state in half.. if you look at NSW Futsal they only have 1 body i believe and if they do have another well its very small..

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
The only official Futsal Leagues in this state are run by Futsal SA who are governed by the FFSA.
Magill Sports Centre runs competitions for Open Men on Tuesday nights, Wednesday nights and sunday nights
In the offseason the Magill Sports centre, the Campbelltown Leisure Centre and the St Jays Recreation centre runs Junior Competitions as well from Under 6 to under 19
State Rep futsal teams are selected from these competition only so unless you are playing in a registered Futsal Competition there is not much chance of selection in the State teams.
All our Coaches are accredited ffa coaches
All our Referees are accredited futsal Referees
If the Vikings and the Stingrays are running Futsal competitions and tournaments interestate and you want to play for them, then thats fine... we are not stopping anyone from doing this...but just remember the above regarding State Teams to go to the National Futsal Championships which is the elite Championship for Boys teams Under 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, open Men and Girls and Women Teams under 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19 and Open Women.

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Hey Sting
Having read your post and seen the Futsal SA and Vikings set up I am a bit confused.
You mention that you do every thing the Brazilian way and approach.
I thought you were a big Greek guy?
Are you Brazilian?
Have you ever been to Brazil?
You mention trials overseas. Have the Stingrays ever had an overseas tour?
Please clear up my thoughts I am very curious.

Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
I play down at marion fitess leasuire centre, facilities are pretty decent. Are they affiliated with FFSA or Futsal SA? If not would be good to see it happen. comp isdecent down there, a lot of players that play in this comp player state premier or super league during the season proper as well so the comp (div1 anyway) is fairy competitive especially during the offseason
Re: Why isnt there an official Futsal league in SA?
Futsal SA also boasts a lot of big names from outdoor in our competitions, but ooutdoor players dont necessary make good futsal players. Our Super League teams have been of very high standard in recent years and this season for a winter season its still very competitive and skillfull. The Wednesday comp also has a good quality of players...
We tried to get the proper Futsal played at Marion but the centre is not interested in joining the FFSA which is a shame...Who actually referees there? They wouldnt be accredited futsal Referees..
