Chelsea's Mourinho slams big Man Utd spending
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has shrugged off Manchester United's spending spree in recent weeks.
Sir Alex Ferguson has spent nearly £50million on players and is ready to splash out on a striker.
But Chelsea head coach Mourinho, who has so far signed Steve Sidwell and Claudio Pizarro on frees, insists his men have nothing to fear from a United side reinforced by Anderson, Nani and Owen Hargreaves.
Mourinho said: "I'm not worried. United can only play with 11 players and if they played them all, Ryan Giggs would be out, which would make me very happy.
"When Chelsea were spending, everybody said we had the obligation to win. 'Chelsea are buying their titles,' they said.
"Now I'm waiting to see if people put us in the last place of the title candidates as they have to put United first, Liverpool second - they haven't spent much yet but they will - and then Arsenal, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle."
You really have to admire his persistant arrogance... I mean he spends over 200m pounds in two seasons with no competition effectively in the market. Now ManUSA got some funds and MAYBE Liverpool MIGHT buy someone worthy and the "smaller" clubs too are now catching up, while his money has been taken away and hes stuck with basically frees and picking up youngsters, so he feels the need to make arrogant and stupid comments trying to insist Chelski never bought their titles... he should look at last season ManUSA defiantely didnt spend enough to warrant a call of buying the title, yet Chelski again tried to buy the title and it didnt work. Typical Maureen... typical... one day you will reach an ECL final, one day.

ok Arsenal bought the titleHawkesy wrote:I like mourinho, he makes me laugh. He should be at Millwall, NO ONE LIKES HIM, HE DON'T CARE!!!
Man Ure bought their titles, ARSEnal bought their titles, Chelski bought their titles. In fact, if you want to win a title in the tin pot league now you have to buy it.
HAHAHAHAH gotta be the funniest thing i've ever heard

No, Manchester United was bought with borrowed money and all of that debt was passed onto the club. Thats the reason that over the last three seasons their net spending on transfers has only been 8mil.Scudetto8687 wrote:Didnt you guys get an injection of US Dollars? Gee your memories are short at Old Traff.

SO, were they all home grown players, because I seem to remember a lot of foreigners in that side.Rigoni 10 wrote:ok Arsenal bought the titleHawkesy wrote:I like mourinho, he makes me laugh. He should be at Millwall, NO ONE LIKES HIM, HE DON'T CARE!!!

The last game of the season they won the league, this was their line up
Lehman from Dortmund
Lauren from Mallorca
Toure from Abidjan
Campbell from Spurs
Cole from Youth
Ljunberg from Halmstads (3 Million)
Silva from Mineiro (4.5 Million)
Viera from Milan (3.5 Million)
Pires from Marseilles (6 Million)
Bergkamp from Inter (7.5 Million)
Henry from Juventus (10.5 Million)
Subs used:
Keown from Everton (2 Million)
Edu from Corinthians
Reyes from Seville (10.5 Million)
47.5 Million Pounds, only 1 player through the youth set up, 5 free transfers in there but they normally command bigger wages. I will accept that Arsenal didn't buy in the same way that Man Ure and Chelski have bought their titles, but none the less buy it they certainly did.

that's called putting a title challenging team together.....buying the title is like spending 100 million pounds to become a successful club (chelski) when they werent at all a title challenging team.....if u say that Arsenal bought the title then i would say that every team in the world buys the title to put together a good enough teamHawkesy wrote:SO, were they all home grown players, because I seem to remember a lot of foreigners in that side.Rigoni 10 wrote:ok Arsenal bought the titleHawkesy wrote:I like mourinho, he makes me laugh. 47.5 million pounds is nothing to make a team...come on man i don't really think it is neccessary to say Arsenal bought the title
14 players took to the pitch, 13 were bought from other clubs. Now I picked a game at random, maybe there were more than that youth player in the squad that year. When 14 players and only 1 is through the youth set up and only 3 are from that club's country, I call that buying a title.Rigoni 10 wrote:that's called putting a title challenging team together.....buying the title is like spending 100 million pounds to become a successful club (chelski) when they werent at all a title challenging team.....if u say that Arsenal bought the title then i would say that every team in the world buys the title to put together a good enough team

Also remember this was 3 years ago, transfer fees have gone through the roof since then. 47 Million then, is pretty close to 100 Million now.
I will admit and I think I already have that arsenal didn't buy the title in the same way chelski did, but IMO they still bought it.
AND yes, my point is that all clubs in the tin pot EPL buy their titles as do every Seria A, La Liga etc..

i see where u r coming from but i just don't think Arsenal bought the title...because that would mean every team that has won the EPL has bought the title and that just sounds ridiculousHawkesy wrote:14 players took to the pitch, 13 were bought from other clubs.
