A's Elizabeth Vale 5-3 USC Lion
Vale took their chances early, going 4-0 up inside 30minutes. Brookesy casuing havoc with some great touches, completing a first half hattrick. He's awareness and touch is a class above the amatuer league, but maybe lacking a bit of fitness. The other vale goal was an absolute rocket from 30yards, top corner, unstopable! Lion managed to pull a goal back before half time, in a match that already looked over.
Credit to our boys who showed great spirit too fight back with ten men second half, scoring two good goals, making it 4-3 with about 10 to go. We were then punished after missing some good opportunities too make it 4-4. A classy finish from a Vale youngster sealed the game minutes from the end.

Defiantly a tough game. You guys looked very dangerous at the end. Almost looked like it could go down to extra time or penalties. Maybe you guys should have played with 10 men from the start .Redders wrote:A's Elizabeth Vale 5-3 USC Lion

Didnt realise how much Steve Maxwell was a Pr#&$ , then after going down on to Asteras, after the match he was very negative towards Asteras players and make some not so nice accusations in the car park.
Anyways, we played well, 2-0 up first half, we missed a sitter from right in front, and held off to march into the next round.

No such thing as a bad penalty that goes in.Bodø Glimt wrote: penalty to kill off the game which was poorly despatched (an awful penalty).

I'm just glad i didnt have to come on, i would never have kept up with the pace of that match.
Not sure what was said, wasn't there, however no-one likes to lose and we had enough chances to score 10 or so! I didn't mention one of your club "officials" actions during the game, enjoy your win and good luck in the next roundbilly wrote:Didnt realise how much Steve Maxwell was a Pr#&$ , then after going down on to Asteras, after the match he was very negative towards Asteras players and make some not so nice accusations in the car park.

Doesn't surprise me about Steve Maxwell, he was once coaching u/19's Adelaide City, cracked the shites massively to the point he got sent from the sideline, wouldn't leave via the path the ref wanted, saying "You cant do this too me!", ref called the game off, and because it was Adelaide City, the match stayed as a draw, Enfield lost the title by 1 point.....always a sore loser, only my thoughts though

Coming from the guy who got booked for dissent then sent off after he had been subbed and threw a massive hissy fit - that's a bit rich
He (Maxi) is a tosser, Our linesman called offside so he (Max) preceeded to call the linesman a cheat and was abusing him for the rest of the first half. Even though Maxi was down the other end of the ground and wasn't in line with the play. Plus he was going off before the game because the ref wasn't happy with the marking of the pitch so he (the ref) was going to call the game off unless they were done. Needless to say Maxi wasn't happy, The ref almost sent him off before the game because he was crying like a baby "Don't you know who I am, You can't do this". hahahahaha. As for what happened after the game I haven't heard anything...Chestnut wrote:Doesn't surprise me about Steve Maxwell, he was once coaching u/19's Adelaide City, cracked the shites massively to the point he got sent from the sideline, wouldn't leave via the path the ref wanted, saying "You cant do this too me!", ref called the game off, and because it was Adelaide City, the match stayed as a draw, Enfield lost the title by 1 point.....always a sore loser, only my thoughts though
The Sth Knights players on the other hand were good, I would say it was an even first half but Sth Knights did have the majority of possesion in the second half but they just couldn't get past our defence or the keeper.

What you have to remember is that Steve comes from a very different Football environment to the majority of the forum users....what he finds more difficult than anything else is the total inconsistancy from the referees from week to week.
One week you have an Amatuer referee in the true sense of the word, and the next week its the guy who wants to pretend he's vying for a spot on FIFA's refereeing panel....Add to that the frustrations of losing to a team that the Knights probably shoudn't ( not disrespect to Asteras.....they were better on the day ) and whatever is said in the car park ( i must say that the 5 or 10 minute chat i had with Steve after the game in the carpark, no disrespect was paid to Asteras ) should be taken with a pich of salt.
Steve is an excellent coach in my book, the players respect him , and he although frustrated at times with the 'Amatuer ' approach to football, is doing a good job. Of the park , I have found him to be a nice bloke, with a wealth of knowledge and some interesting stories to tell. You weekend warriors who've done nothing but play in Sunday leagues all your life should stop having a dig whenever you can....and as for the "Dont you know who I am " comment, never ever, not once since Steves been at the Knights, has he ever come anywhere near saying that sort of crap...he is far to modest for that sort of shit.
are you trying to say that i was that person? Not at all is your answerKnight7 wrote:Chestnut wrote:Doesn't surprise me about Steve Maxwell, he was once coaching u/19's Adelaide City, cracked the shites massively to the point he got sent from the sideline, wouldn't leave via the path the ref wanted, saying "You cant do this too me!", ref called the game off, and because it was Adelaide City, the match stayed as a draw, Enfield lost the title by 1 point.....always a sore loser, only my thoughts though

agreed, made a name with Adelaide City, seemed a good player also at Pt Lion etc when was playing, seems though that his Adelaide City background, especially in Adelaide, gave him back up to do what he wanted, when he wanted, hence why Enfield never got given the points, losing the title, if it wasn't against Adelaide City, i'm sure there would have been a different decision

Good game played in good spirits between both clubs, Salisbury Inter far to good on the day, some ordinary defending contributed to a couple of Inter goals, but a couple of easy chances missed by Inter as well, so all in all a fair result. Payenham Postel missing a couple of first team regulars, but no excuse, some of the youger players would have learnt a lot from the experiance, so not a total loss.

The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!
I was planing all week to start chanting the old west adelaide / adelaide city chant about him being fat and round and bouncing on the ground. But after seeing how big and angry he is, and considering im not 14 any more. I decided ill give it a miss considering he could probably do some damage.furburger wrote:Yeah, I'm not sure what Maxi is like out of soccer, could well be a good bloke but unfortunately sometimes the way we carry on at games is what people see and make their judgement on that
