GAME OVER!!!!

im gona also strip down to my jocks and go to bed. its been a long season but after 6 years in the wilderness were back.

Many thanks to triestina for their passion and fight.

Congratulations to Napoli and Genoa for their promotion.

Comizeration to Arezzo who played some wonderfull football at times are relegated and to Spezia who spoilt Juves party and Verona who now playoff to see who go to serie C.

Verona must die. Juliet was always a slut.

As for you VIGILANTE another year too close for comfort.
You were 7 minutes away from taking Veronas place in the relegation playoff game. If you had drawn vs bottom side crotone.

true vicenza style. leaving safety right till the end to give the supporters heart attacks. congrats to both napoli and genoa. serie b will be a more even affair next season without the fallen giants lurking in it. hopefully the scumbag veronesi get relegated to make it a memorable season

the genoa staff freted after the game cos apperntly they thought the ref blew for full time so there was a pitch invasion and they crowd stole the players kits as they usually do but there was still a minute to go. then on RAI they showed the staff member smashe the changeroom door and get some kits and hand them back to the players but then the game was offiaclly called as finsihed

Genoa and Napoli have both been promoted to Serie A after a tense goalless draw on the final day of the Serie B season, which ended in chaotic scenes.

The game in Genoa was billed as a virtual promotion playoff, but in the end the two sides joined champions Juventus in going up under Italy's complicated league rules.

The draw meant Napoli finished second on 79 points and Genoa stayed third on 78 points.

Normally only the top two are automatically promoted but as Genoa finished 10 points above fourth-placed Piacenza who drew 1-1 with Triestina, they took a third automatic spot and avoided the need for playoffs between third, fourth, fifth and sixth.

When the result from Piacenza was confirmed, fans invaded the pitch in Genoa to celebrate even though their match was not finished. Several ecstatic players thought the game had ended and gave away their shirts.

However, the referee said the remaining minute of stoppage time had to be played and once the fans had been cleared from the pitch, club officials had to find spare shirts for some of the players.
The final day clash was a tight affair although Genoa's Julio Cesar Leon went close twice in the second period.

There had been some trouble before the kick-off but both sets of fans celebrated together at the end.

Both sides have completed successive promotions after the two former Italian champions came up from Italy's third tier last season following controversial relegations.

Genoa won promotion to Serie A in 2005 but instead were demoted to Serie C1 when they were found guilty of match-fixing.

SSC Napoli were declared bankrupt in 2004 and a new club called Napoli Soccer was formed in the third tier. The club's name was restored to SSC Napoli last year after they won promotion to Serie B.

Juventus, who secured promotion in May following last season's demotion for match-fixing, lost 3-2 to Spezia before being presented with the Serie B championship trophy.

David Trezeguet netted Juve's first but his future remains in question after a bizarre goal celebration aimed at club bosses where he counted his 15 goals this season on his hands.

Such a tense match, even I was getting nervous everytime a goal was scored because it could have been Piacenza!

Serie A will be all the better for Genoa and Napoli being promoted. Roll on 2007/08.

we would have picked up the 3 points if they were needed.

for a team like genoa to be so strong at home and with 12-13 straight home wins under their belt we opened them up and the game could have been well and dusted by halftime.

great performance by the vesuvians which gives me great confidence going into the new season as serie A title contenders.

Well done Napoli, it has been a long struggle, coming from Serie C to top flight football. other fellow Napoli fans, yes we are in serie A, where we belong, but lets not get on our high horse, lets not plan to win or talk about winning the serie A or getting a european spot, if this happens it is a bonus. but our first year back in top flight football, we need to aim for a long term plan, to stay in serie A, well done boys, serie a will be better for napoli being there.

Some major recruiting needs to be done over summer - there is only half a dozen players that are of Serie A quality.

Didnt open them up, but I thought we played relatively well in the first half, sat back and played on the break in the second. Did what we had to and we are there.

All hail De Laurentiis - put his money where his mouth is and recruited well - need a good second striker - Bojinov is the No 1 target at present. Also another 2-3 decent players. Pasquale Foggia is another that has been mentioned.

Yep I felt Napoli did have the better of the first half, especially the first 30 minutes, which culminated with that Calaio volley taht just went over. Then Genoa came into the match and had the rest of the first half and basically all of the second half, but Napoli didn't have to score so who cares?

It was a close game - good chances for both teams. The goalkeepers kept the scoreline 0-0 i think. Some very good saves from both of them.

Was there any celebration happening anywhere??

Yeh I reckon you have it about right.

Did not think it was a particularly great game - big difference in standard between Serie B and Serie A.

Ah yeah, of course it will, last season was a terrible year due to the catania shit. Many clubs in effect played 2 months with only season ticket holders. Then the played some games on a wednesday afternoon, and Saturday afternoon.

Now you will have 3 genuine big clubs, who more importantly when playing away draw the crowds.

Imagine if Ascoli was only up there??? Passionetely hate Genoa - full house, Juve - full house, Napoli there was once the love now the hate - full house.
This is why you need a traditional small club

, cause theres that history built up in those 16 seasons in Serie A.
These traditional clubs work off each other, i remember when Ascoli went to Napoli in Serie B almost a full house.
