I might be old, senile, short sighted and a poor driver but give me some spinach and I'll have you for breakfast!

This forum not forefront of my time these days, beach life this time of year dominates (and pub punting here and there)Popeye Magoo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 2:31 pm Thought Bomber would have done his ladder by now, so I will beat him to it this year!

Re: AFL 2025 season
Never really recovered from the drug saga, when NOT ONE PLAYER TESTED POSITIVE TO A BANNED SUBSTANCE.
When Hirdy and Bomber Thompson were in the coaches box, you could sense they were on the rise, and of course they have been a downhill spiral since the above (in a club sense).
We don't have elite, well-built athletes like many other clubs, instead a lot of skinny kids with potential. Merrett is an exception, but we haven't had someone of the ilk of a Gary Ablett jnr, Dusty Martin, Bontompelli, Daicos, Cripps, Neale type who can take a game by the scruff of the neck in the big moments.
All that said, I still can't believe those who call a year successful when they haven't won a flag in ages, but make finals here and there, eg Port who seem to think making prelim finals are a big deal. Bottom line, flags are the only thing that count to me, we have plenty.

So, for the time being, much like Croydon/Polonia, we support our team and hope for the best moving forward and appreciate the memories we had when at the top, and actually winning things.
