Reading Blanchflower's statement, he uttered those immortal words when we had comfortably the best team in the league (top scorers and second best defence), but we don't have that now.

I hate Southgate's anti football, but it's unfair to compare them because he had the pick of English players at his disposal, he just had no idea how to blend them and was completely risk averse.

I like Ange's attacking, risk taking instincts, it makes for attractive football when it works, but he's so fucking naive to think that with average PL players he can play like Pep's Barcelona, you have to tailor your tactics to the cattle you have and manage your risks depending on the opposition you're playing. Playing out from the back every single time makes you predictable, even if you're good at it, which we're not.

In Scotland, managing the best team in the league, without any serious opposition, he looks like a genius, but he just doesn't seem to understand that what works with the sweaties, won't work down South.

So, on balance, neither are my idea of decent managers, but I'd take Ange over Southgate, purely because, when we lose I'm at least awake to see it.

Acceptable answer NOC- it is your opinion and though the question was poking a bit of fun, there was a serious side to it as well (I think you acknowledged that). For what it is worth- I think Ange is a decent coach in general but does lack defensive awareness- players, tactics or both? He has publicly stated he will refuse to change his ways, hence your comments regarding his stubbornness. I think football should be an attacking and exciting sport to watch but would rather see a highly competitive 3-3 draw rather than a blow out 6-0 score-line as happens North of the border (and sometimes South of the border as well).
No intention to knock Spurs but they just seem to be lacking direction and have been for a while. They are a sleeping giant and it makes it all the worse when Arsenal look the more accomplished side of the two.
The EPL is also an unforgiving and competitive league, but this is what makes it so special. It doesn't suffer fools gladly.

Bring in Merino, Calafiori or Jorgino to partner Partey & Odegaard in midfield and push powerful Rice up a bit as a false 9.

After Liverpool dropped 4 points with two draws, I thought Arsenal would seize the chance to close the gap. Alas 0-1 against the Hammers overnight.

And has Greek-Aussie Ang saved his skin with a 4-1 win? Sure it was only at the lowly Tractor Boys, but a win is a win.

Was never going to be sacked before the end of the season anyway, no danger of relegation, no danger of qualifying for anything, mid table mediocrity assured.

Despite the welcome points, the scoreline flattered Spurs, Ipswich had as many shots on target, hit the post and had one cleared off the line. Still got the same lack of shape and structure when pressing.
