SAASL had the opportunity a few years ago to have an affiliation with the FSA which would have allowed the cross over of players but didn't want it. That's when Collegiate stepped up and agreed to it. It will probably be the start of the end of SAASL as more teams join the FSA and become affiliated with Collegiate. 9 teams expressed interest last year and I am aware of another 5 who are contemplating a move to State league in the future. Interesting times for SAASL and I await their response to the FSA move.

So there are these two who are ready for 2026:
Barossa United
Plympton Bulldogs

And the other two clubs that missed out in the last application:
Adelaide Thunder
Elizabeth Downs

Is it a secret who the other five clubs are, or can you share?

Not a secret, but as one is my own club I need to be discreet. Get along to the next SAASL delegates meeting and keep your ears open. Maybe the SAASL board will address the issue then.

For the longevity of the leagues, they should all just move under one banner, and where affiliated with an FSA club, allow movement like there is in Collegiates currently.
Ultimately it would be logistically smarter to have all FSA on Saturday, and the Collegiate/Amatuers on Sunday.
That way clubs with team is both, can support both, with players and volunteers able to be at both days supporting - less strain on clubs resources like volunteers as well.

Some amateur players can only play on saturdays (speaking from experience).
