Having recently (with reluctance) watched a few EPL games whilst on a cruise, as there was limited sport to choose from, must say the games were boring by and large, and virtually 4-quarter squares of the pitch where five-a-side style football is all the rage. Can't say I miss it since giving leagues that use VAR the flick.

"The game is about glory, doing things in style and with a flourish, going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

Bomber, a few things first. You have to be passionate about a particular EPL team you might follow.Bomber wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 12:12 pm Having recently (with reluctance) watched a few EPL games whilst on a cruise, as there was limited sport to choose from, must say the games were boring by and large, and virtually 4-quarter squares of the pitch where five-a-side style football is all the rage. Secondly if you’re just a casual, neutral observer you won’t get anywhere near the enjoyment watching a game live. So just watch the overnight highlights’ package of goals. That should be enough short time to hold your concentration and you might enjoy some of the outstanding goals.
Thirdly try and accept It is one of the most dynamic Leagues with great players from all over the World concentrated in one place.

He's not wrong though. The EPL is boring and VAR sucks.

Must say that many games are very similar in style, if you can call it that. Carpet ball is one term I heard recently. I do find it interesting that many good goals actually come from a wallop from out the back, so why this isn't used more often will remain to be seen.
I might be old, senile, short sighted and a poor driver but give me some spinach and I'll have you for breakfast!

Re: EPL Moving to C9/ Stan Sport?
I'm a Liverpool supporter and they are going great guns in all comps at the moment. Doesn't mean I'm enjoying the actual game styles most teams seem to adopt these days. Some of the suicidal playing out from back crap seems to be a cancer on the game and coaches for some reason even like it here. VAR is a joke, so it's hard for me to take the comp seriously any more as officiating is terrible and possibly worse than ever, even with the advantage of having replays etc.Con M wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 3:40 pmBomber, a few things first.
