2024 season
Saw a cracking game in Div 2 yesterday, Ghan v Adelaide Eagles. 2-2 draw. Decent standard displayed by both teams, great end-to-end football. Looking forward to watching Eagles more this season when time permits.

Re: 2024 season
The Downs v Modbury game was a cracker too.
Finished 1-1, a really late goal to Downs who were down to 10 men to salvage a draw.
Both keepers saved a penalty each.

Probably adjacent at Fitzroy Footy Club again. Not ideal, but couldn't find an alternative pitch.

Re: 2024 season
Who's playing where today? I might be tempted to go down for a look.
How much clit could a clit licker lick if a clit licker could lick a clit?
Re: 2024 season
Had a free afternoon and went to watch Angle Vale VS Elizabeth Downs on Sunday afternoon.
Frenchy was the ref, and as usual had little to no control of the game. Really lucky no one got seriously injured.
Game was hard, with both Teams missing some easy chances. Nil all at the half. 2nd half Angle Vale had the momentum, however the game ended 2-1 with Elizabeth Downs for the win. Poor defending on the right cost Angle Vale with both goals.
Tempers/behaviours of some of the Elizabeth Downs "supporters" and players boiled over at the whistle, poorly reflecting on them. It was unnecessary.
Overall a really good afternoon of old fashioned hard football.
Angle Vale have built something huge, with year on year promotion, and clearly a well run set up. Bar and food prices were cheap, quite the opposite to most venues, certainly NPL. Food was also delicious.
The crowd was really big, so could see this new rivalry really developing.

Re: 2024 season
The food at angle Vale has been quality for years now. The people in the k1tchen do a cracking job for their Thursday night meals - as well as game days.Choppy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 11:40 am Had a free afternoon and went to watch Angle Vale VS Elizabeth Downs on Sunday afternoon.

Big Crowd at Para Hills East v Tea Tree Gully too.
A game with little chances, TTG missing a penalty with the last kick of the game to miss out on a draw with Easties getting the 1-0 win.
Young match officials who all did a very good job.
Was great to see.

Re: 2024 season
Travelled to watch PHW and The Downs on Sunday - as a neutral of course. Downs keeper incredibly lucky not to receive a red card for retaliation and sparked a melee. Very lucky indeed.
Good quality game with the Downs on top for the most part. PHW look to have a couple of handy enough players and could do some damage.

Re: 2024 season
Opened this thread to post about these 2 playing each other in the Cup yesterday at Ghan's ground, what a game for Div 2, the promotion race is going to be interesting this year
Eagles probably went a little over the top when the final whistle blew, but great players and supporters for both sides on display yesterday, glad Steve was the ref, others have shown they can't deal with the pressure games like this bring.
Ghan defeated Eagles 3.1

Re: 2024 season
At the half-way point Eagles & Ghan clearly the standouts of Sun Div2. Their skill and speed well ahead of the rest. Barring any major on/off field incidents blowing up (surely not??#!!), I suspect these two will pull away from the pack as the season goes on. They have the ability to well & truly test the sharp end of Prem A next season, if they retain current squads.

BUMP
Sunday Div 1 going down to the wire this season.
Downs slipped up over the weekend and with the 3-point deduction they've received it's now very tight at the top.

Do they have finals in SAASL?

Re: 2024 season
Unley copping a 3 point deduction for abandoning a match against Downs - Angle Vale probably breathing a sigh of relief as it puts them that bit further above the drop zone.Frank Costanza wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 7:04 am BUMP

Angle Vale will need to hit the ground running next year if they want to stay up.
Re: 2024 season
Modbury took it right up to TTG on the weekend and unlucky not to get a point.
Gully will want to be a hell of a lot better this weekend or its going to be advantage Downs.

Congrats to all those teams that have either won their leagues or sealed promotion with a couple of games to go.

Re: 2024 season
Ghan deserve to go up, keeping a +35 GD with the worst keeper in the League - I'm sure he's a nice guy but couldn't catch a coldFrank Costanza wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:58 am Sunday Div 2 going down to the wire with regard to the 2nd promotion spot
PHU play Beograd and West Beach
Ghan play Vale and Gardens
West Beach play Eagles and PHU
the West Beach vs PHU game on the last day of the season could end up being huge for all 3 clubs
Re: 2024 season
Adelaide Eagles & Ghan clearly the most talented teams in Div2 - they are both capable of mixing it with the big boys in the Premier division.
I suspect any of PHU or WB's challenge next year (if promoted) would just be to avoid relegation. WB couldn't meet that challenge in recent times; Unley are coming straight back down, and Modbury, whilst staying up, haven't challenged at the pointy end of the league.

Re: 2024 season
Div. 1 and Div. 2 could have very different looks about them if multiple clubs that nominated for Federation all go..
I think once the formal announcement happens it will change the outlook on next season

Re: 2024 season
The clubs that do go, how long will they survive in Federation?
Wait and see the junior fees triple, it might just be a death wish for some clubs especially the ones that want to remain in amateurs as well.
Where are they going to get the extra players, qualified coaches from? Pitch useage, wear and tear.
Interesting times.
All seems a bit rushed to me and not well thought out.
