What is happening at Metrostars
What is going on at Metrostars with their Juniors. This season their U17 JPL did league and cup double and their U15 JPL did league and cup double. But hearing stories of lots of these players all leaving the club. Must be serious if they can not keep this talent at the club.

Re: What is happening at Metrostars
a few former coaches left and quite a few players have left following those coaches, always happens.
changing of the guard with the new coach bringing in his people perhaps?

Like every year, players and coaches come and go, the Club stays and gets on with the job!gazza wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 8:54 pmHow are things going at Metro these days?sametro911 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 7:33 pm What is going on at Metrostars with their Juniors. I believe the lads that stayed put, formed the "spine" of the current Under 18s team that gave white city boys a refreshing bath in Sunday heat match!gazza wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 8:54 pmHow are things going at Metro these days?sametro911 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 7:33 pm What is going on at Metrostars with their Juniors. Did not do so well this week against Raiders though Bluechook. Where as all those boys that left Metros to go to Adelaide City, Croydon and Modbury Jets all had wins and are now above Metros in the league. The sad thing Is if the club had retained those players and with some of the players you still have you could have had a league winning team with lots of potential.
Re: What is happening at Metrostars
you are absolutely right! they did not get a result on the week end, furthermore, let me give you the strong tip, they are going to lose other games over the season just like every team does Evey year, however, as you well know, it is pure idiocy to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.sametro911 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 4:16 pm Did not do so well this week against Raiders though Bluechook. So, the club is trying something different, Did we lose players because of it? Maybe, but most likely natural attrition as it happens at the end of any season at bottleneck stage at every club.
Did we lose some brilliant coaches and decent people? most definitely, but on the main, it was their choice, and they did the honorable think as expected from people of that caliber once they decided they no longer agreed with the course the club was taking.
With the boys that left, it's unfortunate, but again, it was theirs or their parents choice and good luck to them, after all the Club will always be proud of producing players capable of making a difference at powerhouse Clubs like the ones you mentioned and more. They are the best advertisement for metrostars.
Again, good luck to all, Let's agree to disagree and no more from me on the subject.
Re: What is happening at Metrostars
Im happy to see the back of some people, who decided to leave, bag the club, but yet were happy taking lots of money to be development coaches etc at the club over the years.
The club will be fine, and going into a direction of younger players in U18s and Reserves is the best step right now. Your going to see them lose more games than before, which is fine, because the fruits of the labour will be seen in the years to come.
We have been lucky in the past were people were at the club for 5+ years in our juniors and seniors, whereas at other clubs they come and go. These guys had it easy for so many years with no pressure, so once the pressure was put on, they decided to cave in and leave, while baggng the club on the way out. They just cant take some responsibility.
Anyway, the club is very happy right now with the people involved, they are all more about the club, than individuals.

Last Friday night at the game, a now ex father, was telling me that some of the lads that left, had gone back to the club but were told in no uncertain terms that they were not welcomed.
This is somewhat different to what I was told a few weeks back. I knew of two lads that were accepted back, Although, one of them left again once told he would not be an automatic choice for the reserve team and had to earn his spot all over again.
Is this a case of some parents finding out that the grass isn't always greener somewhere else?

Re: What is happening at Metrostars
Matthew,
To say you are glad to see the back of people who left the club including development coaches is a very toxic statement. Some of those people did nothing but good things for the club and only had the clubs welfare as a priority. In fact without some of those people the club would not be what it is today. I believe the main reason for lots of these people leaving, was the club wanting to take a different direction under Danny Graystone than what they felt was best for the club. If this was the case these people are entitled to leave if the direction the club is choosing is not right for them. For you to then make statements like you have probably only makes them feel stronger that they made the right decision.
You are right in your statement about Metros having a younger reserves and 18’s being good for the club and that they will get rewards for this later. However the Irony is that Danny Graystone had made it clear that this is not what he wanted at the club. In videos he recorded on your YouTube channel he made it clear that he wanted to increase the age of the reserves side and wanted to keep junior players in their own age groups, Making the path to senior football for juniors harder at Metros. This is the reason why so many left. Now because they have all left Danny has been left with no alternative and has had to have a younger reserves team and push younger players up to U18’s. However if this is not what Danny wanted for the club will he be looking to change this next season and then the club lets those players who stuck by them go?
The sad thing is Metros made a lot of mistakes with their reserves through to U15’s last season and the biggest of them being very poor communication from the club to the players before trials. This led to a lot of talented players leaving the club. Then instead of admitting they made mistakes and looking at how they can make sure that does not happen again the club and people like yourself continue to bad mouth people who have left. For me that is very poor behaviour.

Re: What is happening at Metrostars
Furthermore Matthew your comments that these junior players had no pressure on them and as soon as they have they have they left is absolutely disgraceful. You do not know these kids or their parents and do not know their reasons for leaving. I would be pretty sure they are not for the reasons which you state. If you are involved with Metrostars and this is the way you speak about players which have been a part of your club it is a total disgrace and very poor behaviour from the club.Matthew wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 10:44 am Im happy to see the back of some people, who decided to leave, bag the club, but yet were happy taking lots of money to be development coaches etc at the club over the years.

Above in red is your topic opener.
I haven't seen any official comments from the club in any of their media vehicles.
what you read on here is normally assumptions and opinions of personal nature.
Re: What is happening at Metrostars
At least we know who this person is now that he has mentioned Danny by name and target just him, because we all know the one person who had an issue.
Anyways, things have been great so far this preseason, the club continues to go up and up, and no longer have those people who just whinged and complained all the time.
Such a positive environment at the club at the moment.
