Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
The women's season is over. Champions decided. Post season events happened or happening. Post season is also a time for change.
So, are we going to see any movements on the coaching side of things for season 2024?

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
There will be the usual merry go round of the same coaches just moving to different jobs, you do wonder if any younger coaches will ever be given an opportunity instead of recycling the same guys over and over again.
look through the list of last years coaching groups and see how many clubs each one has been at and they wouldn't be doing it for free.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
A bit of a generalist statement there. Many younger coaches are being given a go as head coach, assistant and reserves coaches. Have listed former clubs (womens comps only) below - no merry-go-round unlike in the Men's competitions.romarios shin wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 12:16 pm There will be the usual merry go round of the same coaches just moving to different jobs, you do wonder if any younger coaches will ever be given an opportunity instead of recycling the same guys over and over again.

As I said, I listed women's roles only.
If we are to include men, Goddard has been involved at both Sturt and Birkalla, Trimboli and Birkalla, Olympic and Modbury, Monsegnior at South Adelaide, Morris at Salisbury United, Porter at Northern Demons, Sacca at Pontian Eagles, and Tibaldi at Western Strikers and Sturt.

Trimboli, coached Modbury Jets Div 2 a few years back while coaching in the men's game.
He stepped in as his daughter was playing.
This is his first senior gig in the Women's game.

Why not?
Not good enough?
Players don’t like him?
Club didn’t like him?
Seems strange considering they were Premiers.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
Common infliction in the WNPL - when the right player makes a noise, change occurs. Happened in the past at Metro, West and City, nothing new for Comets and Inter.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
That's not sexist at all...
Could it be, perhaps, that in some cases women are given substandard resources and when they complain they are labeled as difficult? In at least one case mentioned earlier in this thread, the sacked coach was showing up late for trainings or not at all, on his phone during training on the sidelines, wasn't prepared for training, wasted the players' time by setting up drills after training should have started- should women have to put up with that when if they had behaved that way they wouldn't play? I think not.
So crawl back under your rock.

Have spoken to numerous coaches in the womens game and it’s a common theme. Facts are factsjuniorsupporter wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 2:39 pmThat's not sexist at all...

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
Inter have poached players in the past by paying well over the market rates, Comets have been doing this for multiple seasons now too, nothing to see here.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
Haruna couldn't play for Inter next season for one reason.
Inter have another Japanese striker coming.
That would of meant three internationals and you can only list two on the PPS.
She was always leaving.

but wouldn't you keep her (as player of the year) and look at moving on the other international player already on the list

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
I believe the new player is coming as she's friends with the current player who's staying at Inter.
Haruna only ended up at Inter for the same reason as Comets already had two internationals on PPS..
She's friends with the sisters at Comets.
Worked out well for Inter.

I guess winning the league with Inter, doesnt mena that you have a job the next year....
Having spoken to him, he was shocked and upset but thats what you get in the womens league unfortunately....
Plenty more I could say, but whats that saying..... if you can't say anything nice, then dont say anything at all!

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
Well said Michael.
Having been around the women's soccer/football scene for over 2 decades I have seen good people, coaches, managers, volunteers, leave and many never returning. Many reasons. However, the sport needs good hard working people. It's not for the pay the coaches do the job. It's for the love of the game and for the commitment to the team.
The reason why Tony wasn't re-appointed are probably the subject of rumour and innuendo ( I have heard zero) however, coming out of retirement (or a period of recovery from an illness) to take on the coaching role at the WNPL is remarkable. Shows the dedication and loyalty he has.
Sadly, sometimes, it does not work both ways.
And the treadmill/revolving door swings again. Hopefully he's not lost to the game.

Tony is a great man, it would be a shame if he was lost to the game.
