As much as I despise Collingwood, I think the tribunal made the right decision. Sections from Melbourne's camp seem to forget what happens and can happen in such a sport. Sometimes accidents happen. The whingers need to move on, or if too dangerous, quit the sport.

Couldnt agree more. I definitely do not like Collingwood at all, but it was a complete accident, and the right decision was made.Bomber wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 8:45 am As much as I despise Collingwood, I think the tribunal made the right decision. I dont have a problem with the 2 previous posts if we applied the standards of yesteryear.....but....the head is sacrosanct and he was off the ground.
Most telling is the fact that he braced for contact by turning his back slightly and thus making contact with his shoulder/arm area....it wasn't full front on.

So hypothetically, if someone takes a "specky" and in the process makes significant contact with an opponent's head, they should get sanctioned?MegaBonus wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 10:02 am I dont have a problem with the 2 previous posts if we applied the standards of yesteryear.....but....the head is sacrosanct and he was off the ground.

Sorry, but unless you introduce helmets Gridiron style, head injuries are always going to be a risk when playing the game.

Re: AFL 2023
Port should have extended Hinkley's contract by 5 years, the same amount of time he promised them 3 premierships.
Oh for a Brisbane v GWS final now.

Re: AFL 2023
GWS was robbed, although favourable umpiring for Collingwood comes as no surprise.

This is very true, there were some shocking calls made and not made in that game.Popeye Magoo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 1:00 pm GWS was robbed, although favourable umpiring for Collingwood comes as no surprise.
Hopefully the umpiring gets a hell of a lot better next year. Some big improvements need to be made.

Re: AFL 2023
Surely the time has come to either rename the Brownlow to the midfielders award and take the votes away from the umpires, some absolute shocking votes either given out last night or not given out

Yeh GWS copped the rough end of the stick BUT the umpiring in general for this game was terrible,Cooper wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 1:09 pmThis is very true, there were some shocking calls made and not made in that game.Popeye Magoo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 1:00 pm GWS was robbed, although favourable umpiring for Collingwood comes as no surprise.

Re: AFL 2023
I did read a good point today on it saying that the umpires dont use stats to make their calls they go on what they see and feel on the day. Whether its right or wrong i really dont know but i think the entirety of the blame can not be put on the umpires for this.
The system does need an overhaul like a lot of the AFL does.

Re: AFL 2023
It is a thankless task for umpires to give out votes post match, but at least these days there a 4 of them on ground to come up with the 3-2-1. I remember when I was ref in SAASL very difficult to sit down post match and have about 10 mins to allocate the votes.Cooper wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 1:21 pmI did read a good point today on it saying that the umpires dont use stats to make their calls they go on what they see and feel on the day.
