Re: No Junior Referees
probably a shortage due to ego driven abusive coaches and supporters, who wants all that grief for $50 a game.

Re: No Junior Referees
Is that the real reason or disorganisation by those allocating the referees?romarios shin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 12:20 pm probably a shortage due to ego driven abusive coaches and supporters, who wants all that grief for $50 a game.
Pay them more if it will entice them to show up.
It's easy enough to ignore poorly behaved coaches/spectators e.g. see Enrico in action - he ignores all complaints and used to send coaches over the fence

Re: No Junior Referees
its a high probability that is the reason, disorganization from those in charge would definitely play a part though. its not easy for a young referee to ignore abuse from the sidelines, there definitely needs to be a shift in attitude towards the Referee, especially in junior football. everyone is at fault for that, federation, clubs, players and supporters.

Re: No Junior Referees
How about clubs being more responsible on the behaviour of their supporters / player parents ... just paying the refs more isn't going to solve the problem ....SP999 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 1:27 pmIs that the real reason or disorganisation by those allocating the referees?romarios shin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 12:20 pm probably a shortage due to ego driven abusive coaches and supporters, who wants all that grief for $50 a game.

Re: No Junior Referees
I am deliberately an extremely poor ref at training so my boys are used to bad decisions

Re: No Junior Referees
FSA now looking after refs for SAASL (who just had 2 rounds of cup games). I reckon there just isn't enough for the amount of games needing to be covered. Only going to get worse I think

Re: No Junior Referees
No 14 year old kid deserves to be abused and yelled at junior games.
Never was acceptable back in the day, and is not acceptable today.
I watched an Aussie Rules game on the past weekend with my nephew playing, and i was amazed at u14 level how good the parents were, the umpires looked 16 years old, and you could see they made mistakes, but the parents were great.

Re: No Junior Referees
That is not what i heard from a fellow worker on the weekend, an U9 game turned nasty and this guy was the coach for one of those teams and he had to reign in a few of his parents, this is not just isolated to soccerBeNatural wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 12:34 pmNo 14 year old kid deserves to be abused and yelled at junior games.

Re: No Junior Referees
It's the same in all codes, there was a punch up in u14s cricket between parents. The problem comes from halfwits like rookie that havnt played any sport and wont to blame the refs or umps because there kids are crap.
