Difference between full speed video and a still that provides it conclusively.![]()
When did Root ground one that he claimed? I've hardly missed a ball bowled in 7 days.
The only one I can remember before was when his fingers were clearly under the ball.![]()

Re: Ashes 2023
That was awful batting from England but a delightful 1st session for Australia which has very much turned the Test.

KP and Strauss still having their little tiff maybe in 40 years time they could have chanel 9 pay them to do a tell nothing interview as well. Because they will hate each other so much nothing would ever get them together………except money.

@ Hawksey
how about Broad celebrating a 'wicket' without appealing which was subsequently not given out???
im sure it contravenes some ICC article...maybe you can 'educate' us....

Re: Ashes 2023
My opinion is that he caught it and had control of it the entire time.
However, can see why it was given 'not out' given the letter of the law.
Before you call me 'biased' it would be my exact opinion even if an Aussie was batting - the only difference would be my feeling about the outcome of it.
6 wickets or 257 runs to win this Test - looking forward to tonight!

Re: Ashes 2023
If he'd caught it and then fallen over and slid over the boundary then would you say OUT or a SIX?

Re: Ashes 2023
it seems according to ex-cricketers on social media there is a general lack of understanding of how to interpret the 2nd part....in control of the ball and your body.
just like a fielder throws the ball in the air indicating he has control over it, what if Starc intentionally put his hand with the ball in it on the ground???
Even England’s assistant coach Marcus Trescothick could not understand why it wasn’t out.

Can you be in control of your body if you're falling or sliding?
If he'd slid over the boundary rope, what would you have given?

Re: Ashes 2023
im not disagreeing with the technical interpretation but how does an umpire interpret the intent of the fielder regarding body movement once they have caught the ball?

This just shows you didn't watch it and don't know the laws of cricket.
It's not enough to just have the ball under control.

Because if you answer them you might work out where you're going wrong
Prime example if what I say. Aussies are so good at whingeing but don't know what it is.

Ok...then...back to the cricket as we leave Hawksey to keep drinking...
History is on the Aussies side, however, the poms have chased down such a total of late and we know what Stokes did against us last time we were in England. Get Stokes out in the first session and you'd think we win.
