Australia v. Ecuador Tuesday 28 March, k.o. 7pm on Ch10 BOLD
Looks like Riley McGree will be in the starting lineup.
Good to see a backpage pic of eight Socceroos who currently call, or have previously called Adelaide home. Goodwin, Gauci, McGree, Strain, Borrello, Deng, Irankunda and Young Australian Of The Year Awer Mabil.
Those well-known lovers (not) of all things Strayan like Vanilla Arena, Meldrew, Not Nice Cyril and GIsn’tAE will probably be busy streaming some Yank movie or re-runs of “Leave It To Beaver”.

Did you actually play the same team twice in 5 days?

Very good goal-keeping performance by Joe Gauci, pulling off a string of saves.
And what a great right-footed strike against the post by Goody which led to the goal.

Hey GIsn’tAE, please clarify your question - do you mean Straya’s team lineup or whether Straya played Ecuador twice?God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 10:22 pm Did you actually play the same team twice in 5 days?
If it’s the first, no - Arnold did not play the same team lineup twice as he wanted to give more of the squad playing time against a pretty handy opponent.
In Europe and Africa most nations had two games over this weekend set aside for qualifiers. Others with byes played friendlies as did Straya. It made sense to play Ecuador twice who had to travel to the distant land-down-under. Ecuador’s formal qualifiers don’t start ‘til later this year.
If it’s the second, then yeah they played the same team (Ecuador) twice - once in each big city of Sydney & Melbourne to welcome home the squad after a reasonable performance in the World Cup where they only lost 1-2 to Argentina the eventual Cup winners after giving them a scare in the last 15 minutes of their game.
ps, not intruding but how did you spend Tuesday night? Watching Yankee movies, reading or streaming reruns of “Leave it to Beaver” as probably the resurrected unbanned zzzzz did or it’s mates Not Nice Cyril, Vanilla “molten Icecream” Vanilla, Victor “grumpy” Meldrew and surprisingly even the silent Bomber?

Please see aforementioned reasons/logic for playing that South American Nation twice on this international weekend.God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 7:19 pmI was asking if you played Ecuador twice.Con M wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 6:54 pmHey GIsn’tAE, please clarify your question - do you mean Straya’s team lineup or whether Straya played Ecuador twice?God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 10:22 pm Did you actually play the same team twice in 5 days?

Training? You’re excused. Did it finish by 8pm-ish? In your Clubrooms, was the TV tuned to the second half of this Country’s game v. Ecuador? Or did you blokes head to the nearest pub which probably had AFL reruns on a constant loop?

Wouldn't it have made more sense to play a different team for the 2nd game?
Training finished around 8;15, I went home after, didn't go to the pub. I also didn't watch the paraguay game.

Am I right in thinking Goodwin, McGree & Mabil, 3 of the better Australian players in the team, all started in E&D. If so does that mean E&D contributed more to the Aussie national team than all the expensive bells and whistles inner city NPL clubs put together ?Con M wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 6:52 am Looks like Riley McGree will be in the starting lineup.

Come to think of it apart from Gauci (NZ?) didn’t all of the rest also start in the working class northern districts ?
