Abramovich Drops Blues Bombshell
Roman Abramovich has reportedly told Chelsea he will no longer spend his billions on the club.
The Russian owner has, according to The Sun, decided that he no longer wants to be a key decision maker and believes the club should operate as a proper business - meaning they will have to generate their own transfer budget like most other clubs.
That throws into doubt the future of stars Frank Lampard and John Terry who are both negotiating new deals.
Abramovich, who revealed his plans at a meeting last Monday, has imposed a wage cap and with both England internationals unwilling to settle for less than they feel they are worth, Chelsea may decide to cash in this summer as both players have two years left on their current contracts.
The club are hoping to bring in three new players in the summer, but won't splash the cash on transfer fees as they have in the past.
Steve Sidwell has already joined on a free transfer from Reading with Claudio Pizarro of Bayern Munich set to do likewise, while Brazilian defender Alex will join from PSV in July for a fee of one dollar.

Re: Chelski no more.....
He should not be a key decision maker. It was hios choice not Mourinho's to spend all that money on Sheva. Also his desicion to buy ashley cole and let Gallas go. He has no idea! Just because u invest $ in the club doesnt mean u know anything about football. The Kop wrote:Abramovich Drops Blues Bombshell

yeh but they r just examples of defenders who he is better than
they could always play 3 stoppers at the back
True, but i doubt if they will change their formation.
He always had a time line on his investment in the club, I thought it was going to be 2009/10 not 2007/08.
Won't be worrying about players coming and going until they do. I remember a certain Steve Gerrard as being a certainty to join Frank in the middle of the park................hopefully MB and AS will put in a solid season next season.

wont happen, chelsea will not become a mid table team in a hurry.olympiakos wrote:hahhaha, would be funny to see a few players leave and then chelsea becoming a mid table team
wether players leave or not, barring a mass exodus (which is highly
unlikely) chelsea have enough quality and depth to challenge for the title
for years to come.
a back up centre back (alex) should be all the additions they need.

"Alex started his career in Santos of Brazil in the 2002 Brazilian season. He was bought by English club Chelsea F.C. in 2004, but due to potential problems attaining a work permit, he was loaned out to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. The joint contract of Chelsea and PSV states that Alex would play at PSV for two years, with Chelsea having a €1 buy-out clause".
Just for the record - there is nothing on either the Chelsea Web-site of the Premier League web-site so like 'PIKER' said the Sun is full of rubbish once again.
I suspect that we won't be going our splashing the $ around but will pick up some exciting talent between now and August.
Bring it on!
heres something of interest for all you Chelsea supporters
Another Chelsea Tournament Win.

Chelsea has won the Spax Cup in Germany, an Under-19s tournament. The final yesterday, Monday, was against Brazilian team Atletico Mineiro, and one of three overage players, Phil Younghusband (pictured), scored the only goal of the match.
It was a great week for the young side managed by Brendan Rodgers.
Absent on international duty were Ben Sahar and Jonas Elmer; absent injured were Scott Sinclair, Ryan Betrand, Fabio Ferreira, Ricardo Fernandes and, for all but one game, Michael Mancienne.
The overage players along with Younghusband were goalkeeper Nick Hamann and James Simmonds. They were used sparingly.
Some exciting youth talent is in the wings.
