Great win for England.
Root with another century, now has 10,000 runs. A good win against the world teat champions.
On top of this we had Jubilee celebrations as well. An even better than usual time to be English.

Barring injuries, Joe Root still on course to becoming the worlds greatest ever batsman. I for one hope he makes it.

Would the world's greatest batsman have to score a test hundred in Australia , to be deemed the greatest

Re: England cricket team lol
If Root is to achieve a significant milestone you would think he’d have to be only 2/3 through his career at this point. Plenty of work still to do, maybe 3 more Ashes series ? plenty of time to better Australia’s last great batsman Ponting’s less than impressive average against England.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 4:33 pmMaybe with an asterisk saying *but only against some teams.C U Next Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 4:29 pm Can a player averaging 38.76 against Australia be classified as the greatest ?

Never saw much of Richards or Tendulkar to have an opinion but Lara was good. Aussies haven’t really seen Root at his best which can be very very good, I for one am hoping he gets to put on a big show for you lot before he retires. Still contend that if (and that is if) he gets to 16000 he must be considered the greatest batsmenBomber wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 11:25 amMilestones are one thing, class is another. Its opinions, and I'm just stating that I've seen better players/batsmen. In fact, the english players that impressed me when it comes to stats are Jack Hobbs and Len Hutton. Different era, I know, but just saying you have to be careful when using "greatest" it's not just by mere weight of aggregate runs, it's the average, who against, the era etc.N5 1BH wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 1:10 pmNever saw much of Richards or Tendulkar to have an opinion but Lara was good.
