Away Goal Rule Changed
Just read that for UEFA club competitions, theyve dropped the 'away goal' rule.....not sure I agree...

Re: Away Goal Rule Changed
I've always thought it was an odd rule, why should a goal count double just because it was scored away from home?

Re: Away Goal Rule Changed
It doesn't count double otherwise you'd go through after a 0-0 draw at home and a 3-2 loss on the road. The rule was originally brought in to entice away teams to attack instead of being defensive.Nice One Cyril wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 3:21 pmI've always thought it was an odd rule, why should a goal count double just because it was scored away from home?

I didn't say it always counts double, but it does in the event of a drawn tie. So you're wrong again.Bodø wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 5:03 pmIt doesn't count double otherwise you'd go through after a 0-0 draw at home and a 3-2 loss on the road. Re: Away Goal Rule Changed
It's harder to score away with home fans baying for your blood, or the local Mistral or scirocco blowing about the home ground. Ask GIAE, it even impacts SL2 reserve finals games.Nice One Cyril wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 3:21 pmI've always thought it was an odd rule, why should a goal count double just because it was scored away from home?

Re: Away Goal Rule Changed
So if you draw 0-0 away and 1-1 at home what happens? extra time then pens?

Now extra-time and - should they be needed - penalties will decide such games.
