Re: Euro 2020
just had a look at the draw....looks like England have been kissed on the proverbial again. And with France, Germany, Portugal and Netherlands already out....it just might be coming home....
if Belgium were to win it, they have/will need to get past Portugal, Italy and probably Spain before getting to the final

Yes you are spot on there.
So many older people do not bother or know how to access these new services (Optus, Stan, Foxtel etc) and therefore miss out on watching the sport they grew up loving and enjoying.
It really is a dogs breakfast of football broadcasting in Aus!

Re: Euro 2020
Could not agree anymore, surely one of the main stream channels could have done a deal to show some of the games or even highlights, and the Euros make the Copa America look like a amateur comp

Re: Euro 2020
Nice idea Con but the reality is that isn't going to happen again, with streaming channels dominating the viewing landscape.
Mind you Optus Sport must be angry they have lost the European club competitions to Stan.
They wouldnt want to lose the EPL .

The excuse older people can't access it hogwash - - NOC shows that's rubbish. The internet has been around to most for 20+ years, so the older ones of 70 have had it for ages.
The only ones who complain are the tight a$$es (or can't afford it)

Well, you've never contributed anything positive about England in your miserable life. We could win 10-0 & you would still find negatives. You and that tosspot ossie owl must be twins.

Re: Euro 2020
So now football followers have to subscribe to Foxtel, Stan, C10 Paramount+ and Optus if you want to see all the different broadcasts local and overseas. and pay $15+/month for each.Victor Meldrew wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 1:28 pmSo we have more coverage then ever, more matches and more analysis and no Craig Foster but you say its worse....you lot have no idea.SP999 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:29 amYes you are spot on there.

How is that better or easier than when it was on all / nearly all on SBS, especially for older people?
btw I have Foxtel and Optus and have no problem accessing the new services, but older people will not bother. They are not techno literate and find it too difficult to navigate. And probably on a pension it is too expensive.

If you wish to watch all football on streaming the cost per month isSP999 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 2:25 pmSo now football followers have to subscribe to Foxtel, Stan, C10 Paramount+ and Optus if you want to see all the different broadcasts local and overseas. and pay $15+/month for each.Victor Meldrew wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 1:28 pmSo we have more coverage then ever, more matches and more analysis and no Craig Foster but you say its worse....you lot have no idea.SP999 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:29 amYes you are spot on there.

Kayo ( most European leagues) $ 25
Optus (EPL , Euros, Copa America etc) $ 15
Stan Sport (European club competitions) $ 24
Paramount Plus (A League and Aust national sides) $ 9
Total: $ 73pm
The reality is that FTA TV is not going to bid enough to hold exclusive rights to any of the above.
It will come down to preferences, time and budget. Personally I wont be subscribing to Kayo and Stan Sport.
The big one coming up soon is EPL , Optus Sport cant afford to lose that to Stan or Parmount.

Re: Euro 2020
I get what you mean and appreciate on demand is newish, but SBS showed one game, and that was it. Foxtel didn’t show all games live in HD- so we are better now.SP999 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 2:25 pmSo now football followers have to subscribe to Foxtel, Stan, C10 Paramount+ and Optus if you want to see all the different broadcasts local and overseas. and pay $15+/month for each.Victor Meldrew wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 1:28 pmSo we have more coverage then ever, more matches and more analysis and no Craig Foster but you say its worse....you lot have no idea.SP999 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 9:29 amYes you are spot on there.

Re: Euro 2020
Nice to beat the 'orrible krauts for once. Press saying Sterling is un-droppable now, I know he’s got 3 goals but does he actually make England better. I honestly think we play better without him
Sterling –
Pros: Runs around a lot
Cons: Can’t pass, can’t cross, can’t shoot, can’t tackle. No composure, error prone, drives into brick walls and falls over. Isolates Kane (or gets in his way), leaves team disjointed. Frustrating to watch
Grealish
Pros: exquisite passing, dribbling & crossing. Impeccable timing, decent shot. Drives at players, beats them or wins dangerous free kicks. Links the play beautifully, brings Kane into the game in the penalty box. A joy to watch
Cons: Stupid haircut, not the best at pressing.
Add Mount, Foden, Sancho & Sakha. So what am I missing with Sterling?
