Re: Happy Birthday to WA's best ever
To me, he is Liverpool’s best ever midfield player, so who has been better who has played for WA.
Romario is the best to pay for AU as well - or are you going to argue that point?

Re: Happy Birthday to WA's best ever
Romario long way from AU best player only best player as he only played 4 games barely moved the whole time and got one tap in as goal. It’s well known Reds coach time didn’t want Romario but was forced to use him by the club. He is way behind the likes of Galekovic , Isaias , Carrusca , I can guarantee Romario would not make an all time greatest XI if voted by members .Champions at last wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 9:51 pm To me, he is Liverpool’s best ever midfield player, so who has been better who has played for WA.

I’m not disputing what Souness achieved at Liverpool but 6 games at WA do not put him anywhere the near the WA best from the NSL years .
Crook 192 games
McGachey 138
McGregor. 201
Honeyman 238
Cardozo. 111 and 40 goals

Re: Happy Birthday to WA's best ever
Your confusing what Romario did away from AU with what he did at AU.Champions at last wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 10:57 pm So galekovic was a better player then Romario?
Mmmmm
By your logic if Messi at age 40 played 5 games for Liverpool way past his best he would be ranked above Dalglish as LFC greatest player.
Romario better player over his whole career .
Galekovic better player over his AU career .

You are the one confusing things.
I stand by Souness being the best player to play for WA - you said he isn’t - you are wrong.

They're too busy in this boom period. Plus they all require a deposit first don't they?

Re: Happy Birthday to WA's best ever
West Adelaide has had a few guest appearances - which include Graeme Souness as already mentioned as well as George Best.
To label either of them as "WA's best ever" over the course of the club's history is grossly misleading and serves nothing more than being the fishing expedition that this post really is all about.
While it may still be arguable as to who is the club's best ever player, those with any meaningful connection to West Adelaide know who would be in that category.
All things being equal, Graeme Souness was a great coach during his time at Blackburn Rovers - so i wish him a Happy Birthday.

It seems like souness wasn't their best ever then, it was George Best.

Even as a Liverpool supporter I'd have to agree, albeit two completely different types of player.God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 12:51 pm It seems like souness wasn't their best ever then, it was George Best.
Malcolm MacDonald does deserve a mention though given his status at the time.

Bloody hell, I wasn’t fishing at all. But I didn’t know about Best, so he was the second best.Wraith wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 12:47 pm West Adelaide has had a few guest appearances - which include Graeme Souness as already mentioned as well as George Best.

Re: Happy Birthday to WA's best ever
I would think fair few from the 1978 side would make their way into an 18 man squad for an all time best WAH NSL team, but no spots for either Souness or Best.Wraith wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 12:47 pm West Adelaide has had a few guest appearances - which include Graeme Souness as already mentioned as well as George Best.

Never said that .Champions at last wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 5:19 pm So you still think Souness and best are not that good.
Strewth
George Best player I have seen live but that was it his peak .
So if a 40 year old Messi played one guest appearance for Liverpool would you put him ahead of all the legends like Dalglish, Rush , Keegan etc as Liverpool’s greatest player ?

Re: Happy Birthday to WA's best ever
I can’t see many scousers agreeing with you if an overweight Messi did nothing in one guest appearance for LFC. There is no way they would they put him a ahead of Gerrard or Dalglish as “ LFC best ever” .

Ok I can guarantee If Messi age 40 signed for Liverpool played 5 ineffective EPL games , that LFC fans in England would never vote him as their best LFC player ever .Champions at last wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 10:21 pmWell, you can’t have guest appearances in proper leagues.
Just as AU members will NEVER vote for Romario as our best player ever.
