Full credit to India and the coaching staff led by Ravi Shastri .. Some very good young players and still plenty to come... Prior to the tour to Australia .. India ran a competition - India A , India B , India C ... They also have been running a very good India A program for a while with many tours ....

Sacking a coach after what can be perceived a average series ... Sound like some FFSA clubs....Maybe Langer also learns from the mistakes.

Did you hear Langer after the Test asking who he should have dropped? He backed in his underperforming players (yet had no issue dropping Head after a not-as-bad-as-others Series).... Wade & Starc should not have played in Brisbane. Seems too proud to admit he's wrong.

The 'no competitive matches' thing does need to be addressed, but I can see why this season no players were released from national duty to play for their respective state-based teams. Had to keep the bubble intact.

You have a point with Zampa, BUT stats only seem to be a consideration when selectors try and justify a selection when its in their favour to do so. Other times (for example) blokes make plenty of runs but they aren't considered.
We all know that there are favorites in the ranks.
Leave out Zampa, save him for ODI and T20, but please consider Swepson as Lyon is past his best. Give him his 400th and then see ya later.

Definitely not on of Lyon's best series but his form shield leading in wasn't too flash either... Lack of cricket prior as his last series was the summer prior against New Zealand( check those stats out ) . Problem leading into the next test series is there is possibly ONLY one Shield game before the tour to South Africa .. might be none as they may need to leave earlier to quarantine.

At the moment , Swepson would be next in line as a spinner and has been selected on many Australia A teams.

McDermott, Maddison or Pattison would also be under close consideration .

Im sure there are favourites at Croydon that get picked that should start on the bench or dropped ... Happens everywhere ... just more noticeable at international level ....

Its normal to critique when a side that claims to be no 1 loses a home series, against a second string side which included the home team winning every toss, had a 1-0 lead and lost its first ever test at the Gabba since 1988.
There was a lot wrong with our guys and to shrug it off as just a bit of tough luck or other excuses is a bit rich given the above-mentioned.
Bottom line I don't doubt the Aussies effort, so it comes down to ability and trying to work out what went wrong and where some of the blame lies. Questionable tactics and therefore captaincy/coaching needs to be fully assessed.
That said, I still commend India on one of the more gutsiest efforts I've ever seen in a test series over here and don't want to take the shine off their fully deserved victory, which virtually all Aussies have acknowledged.
