European Premier League?
Talks have taken place over the creation of a new £4.6bn European Premier League, involving the top sides from across the continent according to the BBC and other UK football
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54621189
Could leave FIFA and UEFA at loggerheads if it moves forward.

It's rubbish isnt it.
We need smaller clubs to be able to play against bigger ones.

It's all about a handful of clubs trying to maximise their income and broaden their fanbase and caring nothing about the future of the game as a whole.Champions at last wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 10:38 am It's rubbish isnt it.

The game belongs to the people who pay to watch it not a self-important group of Billionaires.

Re: European Premier League?
Years gone by you had to win your countries top league to earn to compete in the champions cup, ever since then it has been elitist bullshit, now they want to go even further.

I agree the elite want a closed shop, each change is about protecting their position and closing the door further on smaller clubs.

Re: European Premier League?
If last night's game was the standard to expect I can't see many signing up to watch it.

Re: European Premier League?
Twelve clubs including 6 from EPL have signed up for a break away European Super League .
Surely time for UEFA and FIFA to come down heavy on this move and the. clubs which smacks of greed and arrogance .

Re: European Premier League?
It's ridiculous but why should the corrupt UEFA suddenly come out of this as the good guys?
UEFA are worried that their enlarged comp which is due to be announced today will now be of no relevance.
This is 1992 all over again (for England)

Its big clubs throwing their muscle for their own gain here and no thought for the impact on domestic leagues across EuropeChampions at last wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:03 am It's ridiculous but why should the corrupt UEFA suddenly come out of this as the good guys?

.
Do you really think the thought of playing the same sides year in year out is going to excite Liverpool fans?

I thought it was all about making CL bigger (which will happen), but it's far more serious, with no domestic matches,
You need to forget thinking of it as being big clubs though, Tottenham (0 Euro success and no league for
60 years) are part of it.

Re: European Premier League?
Any club/players playing in this should be banned from playing in any UEFA/FIFA competition.

Re: European Premier League?
I do agree, but we don't have much to back it up. There is more exposure, following, interest and money in the game and more go and watch. We just don't like the format as much as we did.God is an Englishman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 10:28 amChampions at last wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:03 am It's ridiculous but why should the corrupt UEFA suddenly come out of this as the good guys?

Re: European Premier League?
Life is predicated on self interest and these clubs are only doing that, rich people wanting to be richer. I can't speak for their players, but who's going to want to leave one of the twelve, except to go to another one?
It's why we need a strong governing body to look after the benefit of the whole sport, not some supine bunch of mealy mouthed jobsworths in thrall to the wealthy clubs and their wealthier owners.
Yes I support one of the twelve, but this cannot be allowed to go ahead unchallenged.

Re: European Premier League?
Forgetting the fact the CL is not just for Champions, we could well have a stupid situation that means the 'race' for top 4 is gone. Liverpool are not going to win the league this season, but it won't matter to them if they come second, third or seventeenth - our season would be over. It's bollocks.
