good game played as all games should be played with good sportmanship and friendly banter. good luck to rhe bulldogs, hold ur heads guys. it will turn around. just keep up the effort.
Great result :D :D
(Pissed that I missed the game today)

Sounds like another good team effort by all the boys. Mega would be happy that we didn't concede any goals today :D
Goal scorers??
C's???
you missed out another good display by our A's today LFC8. All round good effort by everyone, and pleasing not to concede a goal. Game was played in good spirits aswell

B's are still struggling. Lost 1-0 to Plympton, who judging by their reaction at the final whistle, really wanted that win. well played

C's lost 3-2 to Munno Para

Both A's and B's had their chances but didn't take them and paid the price. That said the Blue Eagles were a good team.
In the A's game, Athelstone definitely had the better of the first half. They came out hard and missed a couple of easy-ish chances, plus we were very sloppy. We picked up the pace in the second half and scored a couple of well taken goals before conceding a late consolation goal.

Also we scored a 3rd goal that went through the bottom of the net, but the ref disallowed it as he thought it missed!!! It was unbelieveable, as every other person at the ground knew it went in. Some more pegs wouldn't have gone astray.
I thought Athelstone being the morally upstanding the club they are would have been honest and conceded...

A's: 3-2 to Gully, two great goals by Vikings from two shots all game!! Gully far too strong for Vikings.

B's: 1-1 draw, Vikings lucky to get anything out of the game!! Disappointing game for the Gullies!!
Tell the whole story topcorner. In the B's Vikings played the first half an hour with 10 players and dug in really well all afternoon. Granted we only attacked your goal twice but you wouldn't have scored a second goal if we'd played until Thursday !! Give credit where it's due mate ?

Lol LftWing - I would have done the same thing in their position. Ultimately it did not influence the end result, but was a cracker of a shot!

Hey Maxi, boy, you lads put on a feed, I think I saw 4 lambs on the spit there yesterday, just wished your first team had eaten before the game, would have given us a better chance :) Our b's were desperate for the win yesterday and did enjoy it. As for the a's, three mistakes in the first half, three goals, story this season so far. Your fourth goal was fantastic. Well done to Imbros, have improved well from last season and deserve your ladder position currently.

yeah, ground is very average. will be interesting to see how pontians handle some of the big flat grounds
I think we will enjoy it better. Trust me the boys complain each week about our pitch. I thought yesterday it looked the best it has all season. Keep the rain coming

Pontians had a bit more of the ball yesterday and better chances to score more goals. They wernt easy chances but we should scored more goals. at 3-2 up we hit the post and skyed a few. The equaliser was scoreed with 2 minutes to play. Yes it was handball and he deserved to get sent off but we should of had the game wrapped up we before that. 2 points lost for us and a hard fought point for WB.

Sorry to the WB boys about the beer I know VB and Drought aint the best, lucky the bottle shop isnt far!!!

would have thought most pontians would be better on flat decks as some are used to playing on S.As better pitches.bigger pitches could be questionable though.

Goals came from our mistakes and we should have dealt with them, but in saying that, the pressure was applied. I think Pontians are a good team, but can be very lazy and that's where I think they may have hurt teams. A few players never chased back and were just hovering about waiting for mistakes and when they came, they had the class to punish... Theo played well up front and took his chances very well and looked dangerous.... Pontians ran out of legs though and I think the game would have been different if we didn't play the last 25 minutes with ten men and we could have possibly pinched it at the end. I think a draw was a fair result though.

I thought the pitch was pretty good. It was a bit dodgy in some areas but overall it was pretty good and looked very green.

Shame about the beer, but the chicken shaslicks were fair compensation :D

Congrats to the Modbury Vista boys yesterday. Didnt get to see the coffin dodgers but the C's played well first half (2-2 at half time) but just not good enough in the second half to go down to Ingle farm 5-3. Cheers to the Ingle farm boys for a fair clean match played in good spirit. Cheers to Mr hall for reffing for us, to all the doubters over reffing ability in c's and b's i think both teams would say it was a very fair game. B's got up 1-0 over croatia away with a first half goal but should have won by much much more, both wingers for Vista excellent. A's went back to basics and fought out a good 3-2 win. Referee again very fair in a good game to watch. Cheers to the lads from croatia for some good friendly banter all game with good grub at half time! Well done vista!

Reserves a bit shakey at the back at times, i heard Mickey H is out of retirement and played quite well in the c's??

East 0 - lion 3

i think the scoreline flatters lion a lot! It was definatley a hard game with Lion having a few big boys getting stuck in all day long. I think easties had the better possesion overal in the game, but a few very silly errors cost us the comback late in the game. 1 - nil down, we went to 3 up front, which as always can go either way, unfortunatley it didn't go as planned. 3 knee injuries in the game did not help at all and the poor boys who practically played a whole game in ressies then had to back up most of the first team game was tough. Lion are always a tough side to beat but we are definatley up there with the best in the league and will be competing for the championship at the end of the year. This could just be the kick up the arse the boys need to keep going for the rest of the year.

Not sure i understand spellow, they didnt look shakey, he isnt out of retirement or he didnt play well in the c's?

On a serious note though, just for all those who doubted vistas ability for this seaon just remember, early days yet, still plenty of points still up for grabs and the way things are going nobody is a shoe in for promotion yet gully and pontians included......[/quote]

i think your guys use your pitch to pick the ball up alot from miss control. and not many of them seem to like to chase. when you play on a large flat ground ,the ball wont turn over as much and you guys will have to work alot harder to get it back. just my opinion. kebabs were great. looks as though ross has been enjoying them too

The Downs will probably drop some points here and there, I cannot see them winning the rest of there games, everyone drops the ball somewhere in the season for a game or two. Having said that I think they will win the league. I think winning by 4 points would be a fair call.

As for the has been comment, most amateur clubs field a string of quality has beens, it's just a matter of how they apply themselves in a game. The Downs seems to have the right mixture which is why the fire on all cylinders most games.

You just want them to update the goal scorers list!

All jokes aside you would think they would have a procedure - i.e. Monday afternoon input results from weekend (if not Sunday night) doesn't take long - although Ingle Farm do a great job, I check there on Sunday nights rather than the SAASL site!
