Round 7: Sunday Div. 2

Post by Klinsmann »

The Klinsmann Report

In light of the round 6 results my top 5 has been revised.

1. Pontian Eagles
2. Adelaide Croatia
3. ISC Raptors
4. Tea Tree Gully City
5. West Beach

I said West Beach will be gauged on their match against Pontian, and they drew 3-3. Fair result, but still a little unsure still. They got another tough one against Gully this week, then Croatia the week after. Wow! Raptors, Pontian, Gully, Croatia. A tough month for Beach wouldn't you say? Guess we'll know in a few weeks whether or not to believe the hype...

Croatia slip to number two on my list due to the loss against Vista. I heard they played with a depleted side, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Although, you need to win to stay number one.

Raptors...well they played Plympton. Sure the Bulldogs will get there eventually.

Hmm, if results go the way of Gully this week they could be in the top two on the table. Tough one coming against Beach though.

Pontian take number one due to current form: W, W, D. Getting the job done.

Game of the week: West Beach v Tea Tree Gully City

My Tips:
Southern Knights 2 v Modbury Vista 2
Plympton Bulldogs 1 v Pontian Eagles 3
Adelaide Vikings 2 v Adelaide Croatia 3
Adelaide Pumas 2 v ISC Raptors 2 (oooh! Pumas snatch a point)
West Beach 3 v Tea Tree Gully 2

That's my take, what do you all think for this week?

Come on mate...

We (KNIGHTS) had a tough start to the season... but we are definately one of the top 5 teams in the league!!

were finally starting to get our strongest team on the park... and i think you'll start to see us moving up the table.

Pontian are definately the best team we've played against... and it was sad to see our game with them finish the way it did.
But we've been as good - if not better than every side we've played this year (although i cant comment on West Beach cus i wasnt at that game).

We'll be right up there when the end of the season comes!

ISC Raptors - third!

i like the look of that!!

Of course we arent getting too far ahead of ourselves. Weve had a good start to the season and were pleased. But like ive said, if we dont continue to show the same amount of determination things could quickly start faltering

Was i at the game??

yeah... i played in it.

They had a stong breeze in the first half... and our keeper made 2 very bad mistakes...
But the game wasnt one sided, we were all over them in the second half... we just couldnt put our chances away.

Not being funny mate... if you dont want to read my posts... dont ask me questions where you want me to respond!

I wouldn't say Gully were "way to good" but believe they deserved the win. Agree with Hawks that Knights should definitely be a Top 5 team. Doesn't really matter who deserves what, it's who wins, loses or draws

I don't agree that Croatia will be a Top 3 or even a Top 5 side - every side will be depleted from time to time, thats what Amateur Football is all about - we like every team have suffered from injuries and suspensions and haven't had our "best 11" start one game but no excuses, all sides are the same

My Tip for top 5

1) Pontian
2) Gully
3) West Beach
4) Knights
5) Imbros or Vista

Haven't played Vista or Imbros this year so not sure although both have had some good results. Pumas were poor on Sunday and have very little depth.

I dont recall a strong breeze, but yes your goalie made 2 errors which cost you 2 goals. It was 3-0 at half time and although you did play better in the 2nd half i would'nt say you dominated. We had our chances to go further infront but didnt take them. 3-1 was a fair result i feel

Well I think the league positions dont lie after 6 rounds, so having Croatia as number 2 is not realistic buddy. I heard the usual line of we've got 6 or 7 1st teamers out injured during yesterday's game with Croatia. It's amazing how many teams are having this same problem week in week out. No wonder Medicare is struggling!!

The top 4, Pontians, West Beach, TTG, ISC are there on merit and having played against 3 of the top 4 I'd say that Pontians will be hard to beat with TTG pushing for 2nd spot.

I do consider the Knights to be a good team, just not in my top 5 yet. Yet...

The reason I keep Croatia at number 2, for this week, is because they are the only team to defeat Pontian and Raptors, plus weighting a couple of other results. But if they slip up again against the Vikings this week, as per Vista, you'll see them slip considerably, possibly out of my 5. As you'll see Beach climb considerably if they defeat Gully this week.

Also, this is season 2007, not 2006. Keep that in mind, how good teams were last year or what division they came from means nothing.

Remember, it's just an opinion, and it's good to see everyone elses on here. I'm not out to slander other teams, because I know everyone gives 100% every week, as we all want to win and we all want to be the best. Just can't fit ten teams in five positions.

Thanks

Some good reports on this topic guys. I too think the Pontians should finish in the top two but anything is possible. I think the team with the least amount of injuries and that can field their strongest 11 each week will finish on top. We had a few out yesterday and I know West Beach are missing a few as well. From reports Croatia had a few out so you need to keep you best players fresh or have enough depth in your side and not be afraid to use them. I think TTG was the strongest team we played against WB were good yesterday good striker up front that took their chances and little Manca was buzzing all day. All their attack started from Jones at left back so if you can stop the ball going to him early you will make them go long. ANyway good luck to all teams its going to be tight all the way to the finish.

all over us for 20 minutes(with the breeze) where you had 10 shots from 30 yards,1 goal, 2 on target(straight at keeper) 7 missed by plenty and we still went down the other end and came closer on two or three occassions than you did whilst "dominating".

But we had a nicer strip! Enough already you won 3-1 look forward to the next one!

I like Hawkes attitude....have watched him play most games this year and with him being a new lad have been very impressed with his form....with perhaps one of the better attacking midfielders in div 2 still to make his presence felt this year ( out due to injury ) i think the second half of the season will see the Knights finish strongly.

They have good depth to this squad ( a good strong squad of 15 players ) and an excellent team spirit, i expect them to finish top 5, with a top 3 finish not out of the question. Take the Pontian debarcle out of the equation ( with a replay still possible, Golden Eagle take note ) and our results have been fair to good.

Agree, Gully seem to have been the strongest team they've played so far, West Beach not far behind, Pontians on par or level with the Knights ( not unbeatable any way ) Croatia hot and cold, Plympton out of their depth and Pumas not up to it on the day, anything could happen.

With Vikings, Vista, Raptors ( always a good close game ) still to play, its anyones guess who the top 2 will be...another good close season ahead for everyone.

I predict it wont be decided until the final day of the season....my tip, Gully , West Beach, Knights, Pontian and Vista.

Yeah great call hawks... "were definately one of the top 5 teams in the league" although YOUR SITTING 7TH?!?!?! Maybe you need to explain this concept to me, if your right then i guess vista must be a top 2 side at the moment.

I think its a bit hard to predict a top 5 or top 3 at this stage. after round 9 is completed i think that will give a fari indication. if there is anything ive learnt from playing division 2 it is that you cant pencil yourselves in for a win on any given sunday. some teams play well against top 3 sides and other teams play shit against the bottom 3 (vista 2006).

Looking forward to the rest of this season there are going to be some cracking games and cracking hearts in the final few rounds i think.

It's called making a prediction at least he has the guts to do it!!! We certainly aren't taking anything for granted but I would personally like to bet that we would finish at least in the Top 5 - if you want to sit on the fence that's up to you - we all know it's a close league and we take nothing for granted

Based on last year, finishing 4th or 5th could see you promoted to the 1st Division :!: :P :!:

AS THE CURRENT DIV1 AND DIV2 TABLES STAND-

Fulham and PHW would get relegated to Div2 Sun

Downs and Florina would get promoted to Non-League to play with the likes of Rushden & Diamonds and Kidderminster.

PHE, Lion and Parafield would get rewared for thier TOP 5 PLACE with introduction to the Conference North to play with the likes of Kettering.

Vale, Ingle Farm & Inter would go play in the Amateur Saturday Division

WHICH would mean that every team in the current 2nd Div Sunday would get promoted!!!!!

Yes Knight making a prediction is fair - But to say your definately a top 5 team is stupid if your 7th. Vista is a top 5 team... Just

If you want me to make a prediction here we go. Vista got of to a good start this season but then lost some form. Were not sitting where we wanted to be right now by any means and i know we can do better. I think that were capable of being up in that top 3 and fighting for promotion, come seasons end i believe that we will be up there. Got a result on the weekend against a good oppostion and our goals were created well. Plenty of time to go though.

At the begining of the season i would have placed knights probably in the top 5 too, but they arent there at the moment. looking forward to our game this week though mate. A win for either side could be huge!!! Good luck

i'm tipping the gully to win div 2, with all that money being handed out they really need to make it worth while

and with vista's new signing, an ex enfield player(think that deal is done, 15 curly wurlies) and another who's hoping to be released to vista , i think they now have the depth to chase gullies heels right to the end.

though they have lost a star striker with a hammy or carfy.
massive loss to the c's

So far these predictions seem reasonable. Klinsmann should definately apply for a position with SBS.

For me, having not seen Beach this year, Knights or Pontian. My top 5 is:

1. Gully - A hard fit side with all the team spirit money can buy.
2. Raptors - as much as it hurts they are looking the goods
3. Pontian Must be pretty good.
4. Vista - Yet to play to their potential.
5. Beach - Were in it til the end last season and off to a solid start.

qoute of the day

not the best team we have played by far but grinding out results

3. Pontian Must be pretty good.
A good team but Gully were better

4. Vista - Yet to play to their potential.
agreed, and thats frustrating

5. Beach - Were in it til the end last season and off to a solid start.
I agree

Knights will struggle again and end up kicking their way just above relegation. They have no GK's and zero depth in the reserves.

Black Hawk, you give me a bad name down at the club, they all think you might be a relative of mine. I and all of us at the Knights find it amusing that you only seem to comment about us and no one else. Have you had a bad experience playing the Knights or have you chosen this as your career path ?

No Goalkeepers ? We have 4, 2 with alot of experience and 2 new to our club. Admitt that our reserves may not be all that strong, but our results so far this season has been good. Having said that we have a good squad of 15 or 16 players who push each other during the week at training , making player selection for the weekend competitive. But at the end of the season , you could have the best reserves team in the state , but it all means jack sh1t if your first team finishes in the bottom 2

Another well thought out and great assessment of Division 2! How old are you 15? With the scary Avatar and "Dark Side" location every 6 or so weeks you pop on and have your little dig at the Knights - I'm guessing you were made to look foolish once and have never got over it - try this

I think Plympton will struggle to come back from where they are at the moment. No points from 6 games & I would say the other one at the moment looks like the Vikings.
Vikings are a decent team though just need to tighten up their defence. 15 goals for but 20 against.

dont think vikings will get relegated, as good as 3 teams we have played and with goalscorers that they have, will continue to , therefore taking points, as not everyone will score that many past them.
