Mutiny at ABE 17s?

Post by CEO »

Heard a few parents of ABE 17's players were p*ssed off at their kids losing their places in the team, and not even getting on the field, to Under 16 players brought up especially for todays game v Campbelltown........

Its not the first time players at ABE have been screwed. Try leaving a whole team out and bringing another whole team in to win a game. Pretty sad. Yep it has happened at ABE. No Idea!!!!!!!!

 Do I assume these 16's also played on Friday night, therefore playing 2 games this weekend whereas some players didn't get a game at all?

 May well be within the rules but dissapointing to hear about another Club that needs the 3 points more than they need the development of their juniors who pay good money to play every week in their own squad.

Extremely disappointing, how are players meant to develop if they have to miss out on having the opportunity to play by success orientated clubs.

i agree with billy and rabbit, if the 16s played on fri nite how is that fair that they take u17s positions..plus theyr paying stupid amounts of money to play.. but hey at ABE if u do some ass licking you get all the game time u want.. politics is bringing ABE down..

I just think it is absolutely ridiculous that Blue Eagles would put U16s in ahead of those poor U17 boys who have tried their hearts out all season. For what? So they can be left on the bench when the U16s suddenly become available, having played on Friday night..... so an U16 boy plays 2 games on the weekend while the U17 boy plays none.

It is ridiculous and if people had their wits about them, ABE will not be left with many Under 17 players. This is what I hear anyway..... obviously the derby means a lot to them despite only having won one match all season.

Why weren't the better players in the 16s not playing in the 17s from the start of the season?

It was a decision the club took to have a stronger 16s than 17s I believe.

exactly gazza.. because ABE have no idea.. the 17s is supposed to be back up for 19s..? also i heard of the players that played on sunday from 16s and they arent any better than the 17s.. also heard the reserve goalkeeper came on up front before 3 other field players! 2 subs were only made and the keepa coming on field was the 2nd.. :?

wow, something different on ABE's part..!! pshhH! not!.. in all honesty, it is the biggest joke of the century, the club is run by a bunch of twats who have no idea about junior development but only care about winning.. they don't realise that it's a bunch of 16 and 15 year old boys who are there to play football, all they care about is shining Reps bald patches so their sons get a chance.. it's not fair and the club is going down the gurgler! agree with the people who are actually lookin at the bigger perspective.. eg: youngdemon, CEO, gazza..

Agreed. When you look down the tables in the juniors, there arent many Blue Eagles teams both in the A divisions, and succeeding. The U16's seem to be the exception. Compare this with (and it pains me to say it) Campbelltown, who have TWO teams in every age group bar U16's, with the majority of these teams in the top half of their tables.

There are also players seemingly flowing from U17 to U19 every season without the stream ever drying up...... ABE cannot say the same.

I agree with the principles stated here. The facts as I was told are that the (new) ABE U17's coach requested several U16 players due to injuries. But, IMO no current squad player should miss out on playing because of a situation like this.

BUT, this situation occurs several times every season. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't a Campbelltown Junior Div A team (the entire team) replace the Div B team in a match earelier this season. I think the Div A game was postponed due to bad playing conditions. And last year half a dozen Campbelltown players from the Div A team played in the Div B team. My intention is not to single out any club as I know of several other clubs that have done this and will continue to do so. This is always prevalent in cup competitions.

It is within the FFSA rules...unfortunately.

So, rather than pick on any team or coach, the problem lies with either the club's policy OR maybe it is time to petition the FFSA to change the rules. For example, once a squad is chosen then every available squad player must get a minimum game time before using up to say, 3 players from another squad of the same club.

Why the better players of the ABE U16's did not play in the U17's I thought was rather obvious. In the interests of developing as a player, the relevant players and parents must have felt that their son would better develop with the U16's appointed coach rather than the U!7's appointed coach. And of course, we will never know if they're are right or wrong. Especially as the U17's coach has been replaced.
It is the same reasoning when a player leaves a club for another isn't it? They want to enjoy their football and learn in a positive environment under the guidance of a coach they believe will best do that.

Just a thought.

drusetta , im interested to know who the other teams are as its always campbelltown or abe . on here , who are they if you know , but as for the 16s that team was your team in 14s and won the championship, they went to 16s to be the stronger team , they now stayed together , so it doesnt break up that team in the future . basically its not development its to win what league there in which 16s is a little easy to other A divisions . but now adel city has entered and ruined abe party . . there are at least 4-5 boys in that team that could play 17s every week . but again thats to hard and the coach of 16s would spit chips . true or not drusetta .

Corona - I couldn't be bothered dealing with the flack it will obviously incite so I won't name the teams.
I can only suggest that the decision to place the team in the U16's last season and remain in the U16's this season is to allow as many players U15 and U17 to play for the club as possible. At least I hope that is the reason. I thought every club's intention was to try and accommodate as many players as they can; so a little manouvering of players does occur. Didn't Adelaide City move every grade up to a higher year level a couple of seasons ago?
As a coach and player I have been on the winning end, and losing end every week and neither is any fun. My concern is that a player will not develop if they are winning/losing easily every week - this could well be the case with ABE and Adel City in the 16's this year. Although Cumberland also appear to be a challenge.

There are players in the ABE U16's that can play U15's as well. So, that makes them a bloody good team if they can also play U17's. Perhaps it's for the development of the U16's that they put them in the U17's for that one-of match. Unfortunately it was at the expense of the current U17 boys. The U16's team is their (ABE) pride and joy and it's a very exclusive team I believe.

And I agree with Dru, many, many clubs do the same thing week in week out. Has anyone ever checked results of matches in the jpl? Have you ever remembered the teams that you played in the first half of the season and then compared them with those in the second half? They do vary a bit don't they?

You are either very naive or live under a rock if you believe that no other clubs move players from one level to another to either help boost confidence of that team or to challenge players at higher levels, or just simply because of injuries. There may also be some alterior motive

For what ever reason this post was intended, it's not up to us to judge why, because we don't have all the facts, and it's up to the parents of that team to approach the club's jpl comittee and ask questions if they are unhappy about it.

good luck to all involved 8)

Drusetta, thanks for not naming names so as not to incite flack for yourself. Why the hell did you name C/Town then. If you wont i will name clubs who have used this system just to win games which i have experienced first hand. (Olympic or West Adelaide, Modbury, Para Hills, Metro, ABE, Playford, South Adelaide, Cumberland, Metrostars, White City, Raiders, Adelaide City, Cobras, Noarlunga the list goes on and on.
Before anyone from these clubs abuse me please have a good hard look at your history records. What i'm saying is that at some stage all clubs will for whatever reason play some players above/below their age groups and what i have been saying all along is that while it may not sit well with some champions of ethics on this forum its within the rules and while thats the case i believe Clubs have a right to use players as they seem fit. Yes parents pay fees and expect their kids to play however if the club has a policy as C/Town does of players not belonging to a particular team but to the club then the club has every right to use players to its advantage especially if within the rules. It may not be right but at least my kid knows where he stands as do the parents who sign the agreement toplay at the Club. Before Black and White and hare or anyone else has a go at my Club for last years events please have a look in your own back yard.

Agree with corona, as for tits, there were no injuries.. players were called up for unknown reasons, where two or three fresh players sat on the bench.

Drusetta, bringing up that the FFSA should do something in regards to the minimum amount of time given to junior players.. Well is it not in ABE's principles that each junior player must be given a minimum of 20 mins on the park?.. You having coached there should be familiar with these principles.

Hey Pebs, why not ask the comittee what the reasons were?
If not injuries then perhaps one of the other reasons I mentioned - either help boost confidence of that team or to challenge players at higher levels, or was it the ulterior motive? Nonetheless, need to get answers from the right source

I would have to agree with redeye, there are so many clubs who do this its not fair if just a few are mentioned.

Bringing down eligible (within the age group) players is within the rules of the FFSA. This rule is stretched by so many clubs because they are brining down players when they already have a full squad. IMO if this is the case its classified as cheating because the only reason why these boys are in the team are to win. Its as simple as that.

If a club wants to use 'eligible' players then they should have to send in a report to the FFSA saying they have injuries, players on suspension, players on holidays, discipline reasons etc. In this report they should give reasons why they are using the players and how many they are using. Then these players would only be able to play if the FFSA accepets the written report.

I know it would take a lot more time and work but it would be worth it. It would help eliminate this "CHEATING"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
