I missed last weeks game against Bosna, but the previous week against Port Pirie I wrote.....
"To go through a re-building stage mid-season has been tough but has brought out the true character of the club.
Hopefully the improving spirit of Knights will firm up the club's foundations and see them in good stead for the rest of 2010 and forwards."
In Sundays games at Modbury Vista, Knights improving spirit seemed to have been blown away in the gale force winds during the first half of the Reserves.
Southern Knights found themselves undermanned with the bare 11 players available for the Reserves and all A's bench all having played a full game.
The A level encounter began very evenly until Matt Daughtry left the field injured, despite his absence Knights held ground and produced several opportunities to open their account . A lack of concentration by Knights defence gifted Vista a goal after about 20 minutes and within a few more minutes Vista added a second to give them a 2-0 lead.
Vista still pushed the visitors and Phil Massicci produced some good stops in goal for the Knights.
As the game progressed Knights also lost Paul Martin and Gary Craggs to niggling injuries and finished the game losing 2-0 looking quite dis-spirited.
Knights will need to dig deep and do some soul-searching when they entertain division 2 leaders Elizabeth Grove in a fortnight.

Some early opportunities for Southern Knights went begging !

A dejected Matt Daughtry walks off injured, replaced by Matty Harrison who had played a full game for Knights B's.

Matty Harrison and Peter Carman renew their onfield banter with a light hearted moment.

Vista's keeper was quich to gather in most through balls before Knights could pounce.

Despair for Knights as a defensive loss of concentration gifts Vista with a 1-0 lead.

Moments later Vista are celebrating taking a 2-0 lead with a well worked goal.

Some good work from keeper Phil Massicci helps to stem the flow.

Football is not always the "beautiful game"...

Richard Finlayson finds it difficult to stand upright in the gale force wind.

Adam Djekic tries to release Paul Thompson with a through ball !

Despite a debilitating injury, Richard Finlayson clears well from a Vista corner !

Paul Thompson winds up for an attempt on Vistas goal !

Despite Boyd Lewis and Richard Finlayson looking to have the goal covered, the ball, with the assistance of a very strong breeze, finds its way into Knights goal to give Vista a 3-0 lead going to the break.

A good sliding tackle from Same Jones (Happy Birthday Sam !) sees the ball safely out of play.
No second half photos, I was busy letting in (and scoring) goals
