That was last year. Maybe there was one of the Milan clubs at some stage. Unique anywayGod is an Englishman wrote:Has a team from the same city ever won the Champions League and Europa in the same season?
I'm thinking maybe Real and Athletico.
Re: Champions League 2018/19
neither teams have been English champions for a combined circa 90 years
Re: Champions League 2018/19
As a neutral ,I think this is going to be a mouth watering grand final, Bravo to both teams for proving football is the most exiting sport in the world.

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely (for the neutrals) to live up to either of the semis. I'd be happy with a super boring 1-0 win, OG from VVD in the 8th minute of injury time. :wink:predrag wrote:As a neutral ,I think this is going to be a mouth watering grand final, Bravo to both teams for proving football is the most exiting sport in the world.

EPL toughest and best league in the world but the reasons for the current English club strength is for very different reasons than the pre-Heysel dominance.eagleboy wrote:Foxsports saying its the first time in history that Europe has all 4 teams in the 2 cup finals from 1 country. 3 teams from 1 city.

Then they've mispelled it. Jürgen would be more correct.

In a way, I'm glad Spurs won the way they did. At least this way, given the comeback and emotion following Liverpool's win, both have effectively played their emotional "grand final" so will be equal footing, psychologically anyway. :wink:Nice One Cyril wrote:Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely (for the neutrals) to live up to either of the semis. Hopefully the final will be as good as the semi's but I have a feeling it will not be as good - hope I'm wrong though.

Spurs won't be able to rely on away goals in the final.Bomber wrote:In a way, I'm glad Spurs won the way they did. First time ever that 4 finalists from the same country.
Is it the first time that a final is 2 teams from the same city?

Answer one of those questions, Madrid has done it twice.

I had another question but then didn't type it. It was has one city ever had 3 finalists. They haven't. (actually I didn't check including the Cup Winners Cup)Nice One Cyril wrote:There was only ever one question :wink:God is an Englishman wrote:God is an Englishman wrote:First time ever that 4 finalists from the same country.

Lack of regular competition against quality teams is the biggest problem in Scottish Football, always has been really, except for a couple of periods in the 1960's & 70's.
