Judging on this site alone, there seems to be less games called off for fights, less moaning about club refs, less accusations of things being stolen from change-rooms, less bickering about players playing for different clubs, so something must be going ok.God is an Englishman wrote:So, we're 2 months in. Has their been anything worthwhile about saasl being part of ffsa?
Some teams went into the FFA Cup but that's all I know about.
Anything else?

I think there is less reporting on this site in general.Bomber wrote:Judging on this site alone, there seems to be less games called off for fights, less moaning about club refs, less accusations of things being stolen from change-rooms, less bickering about players playing for different clubs, so something must be going ok.God is an Englishman wrote:So, we're 2 months in. Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
I think the not having player cards and written team sheets anymore would make that a lot harder to police or even notice anyway. The refs situation has not changed under FFSA and don't know what they have done to have stopped the fights.Bomber wrote:Judging on this site alone, there seems to be less games called off for fights, less moaning about club refs, less accusations of things being stolen from change-rooms, less bickering about players playing for different clubs, so something must be going ok.God is an Englishman wrote:So, we're 2 months in. Don't know if it's anything to do with the affiliation, but the refs we've had this year (some I've never had before) have been a huge step up from previous years.

refs still run by same group so seems to be just coincidence.

I've heard that Florina are considering moving to Collegiate League and integrating with a federation side.Sacred Noodle wrote:Any more SAASL clubs switching to Federation State Leagues for next season??

heard that whisper also .... be disappointing but once again a lack of volunteers will see many sides disappear in the futureGod is an Englishman wrote:I've heard that Florina are considering moving to Collegiate League and integrating with a federation side.Sacred Noodle wrote:Any more SAASL clubs switching to Federation State Leagues for next season??

Increasing problem is the lack of volunteers as is the incidences of players taking money out of a club and unwilling to contribute anything back.bloodypassit wrote:heard that whisper also .... be disappointing but once again a lack of volunteers will see many sides disappear in the futureGod is an Englishman wrote:I've heard that Florina are considering moving to Collegiate League and integrating with a federation side.Sacred Noodle wrote:Any more SAASL clubs switching to Federation State Leagues for next season??
Responsible fiscal management is becoming necessary for all amateur clubs and we have seen several fall over unfortunately due to rising costs.

It might sound harsh or even simplistic, but can't help but feel that maybe there are too many clubs for the demographics here anyway, ie "law of jungle".Old Redback wrote:

Better to have less clubs (therefore less need for volunteers) but perhaps with more club divisions (A's, B's, C's and D's/O'35's).
A's and B's for those wanting a decent challenge, with C's and D's for a kickabout.
Yes, there are still issues to sort in this scenario but seeing it more these days when a group of people might say stuff it, let's form our own club without realising how much foundation is required to get anywhere, especially long term, only for struggles on and off the field and eventually people get worn out or are time poor and club rolls over.
So maybe some "natural attrition" is needed for a while to even things up a bit.

Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
Having 3 semi-professional leagues doesn't help, puts a drain on manpower and quality of players etc, etc. Would be great to have 1 strong league and let the rest play Amateurs where they ultimately belongBomber wrote:It might sound harsh or even simplistic, but can't help but feel that maybe there are too many clubs for the demographics here anyway, ie "law of jungle".Old Redback wrote:

It doesn't, but teams are folding/struggling to keep afloat and its usually "newer" teams that this applies to.God is an Englishman wrote:Why does it matter how many divisions they have?

As well as lack of volunteers, the cost of ground rental and utilities is getting beyond the point of being affordable.God is an Englishman wrote:Bomber wrote:It doesn't, but teams are folding/struggling to keep afloat and its usually "newer" teams that this applies to.God is an Englishman wrote:Why does it matter how many divisions they have?

I’m not sure that’s 100% the case, would be interesting to see the numbers on that.Bomber wrote:It doesn't, but teams are folding/struggling to keep afloat and its usually "newer" teams that this applies to.God is an Englishman wrote:Why does it matter how many divisions they have?

I did say "usually". There will always be exceptions on that basis.Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:I’m not sure that’s 100% the case, would be interesting to see the numbers on that.Bomber wrote:It doesn't, but teams are folding/struggling to keep afloat and its usually "newer" teams that this applies to.God is an Englishman wrote:Why does it matter how many divisions they have?
