Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
According to what we were told, SAASL pay FFSA / FFA $17,500 per year for affiliation, for up to three years - after that – who knows?
We were also told that SAASL have some 5,000 players registered, so with the proposed increases in fees it would be fair to say that on top of the $17,500 per year, SAASL registered players would also pay NRF the following combined totals:-
2018 - $13.75 x 5,000 = $68,750
2019 - $16.50 x 5,000 = $82,500
2020 - $ 19.25 x 5,000 = $96,250
Total for three years = $17,500 x 3 = $52,500
Plus 68,750 + 82,500 + 96,250 = $247,500
Big bucks for what???

Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
$17,500 affiliation fee would be a good start.
$3.50 per player.
Start with that and see how things go.

Cumulatively, with large numbers, every dollar can be big bucks.....individually (per player) about $17.40 per year...reddevil wrote:According to what we were told, SAASL pay FFSA / FFA $17,500 per year for affiliation, for up to three years - after that – who knows?

The extra $3 rego introduced this year would raise an extra $19,000 so the League's affiliation fee is already covered...

If we were to pay more why can't it go into more administration resources, referee development and retention initiatives.
I could accept the affiliation if there was an improvement to the competition but there really isn't.
The figures quoted above equate to $300k ($100k per year). That money could go a long way. If we pay it externally we aren't really getting anything out of it.
It's all in the Delivery!

Maybe the SAASL should try and take over the FFSA! lol

Regardless of affiliation, the SAASL should raise its fees.

Why? I'm shocked by a left wing, union man like you saying a company should raise its fees.

Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
Firstly, the SAASL are not a company.
Regardless of affiliation, there is a demand for greater services from the SAASL by the Clubs, this comes at a cost and I reckon the numbers would show that if you did not include the interest the SAASL earnt there is a structural deficit in their budget.

Some reasonable points BUY
Why would you not include interest?

overall yes you should - everything included in the bottom line.God is an Englishman wrote:Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:Firstly, the SAASL are not a company.

but you need to view the operations budget in isolation to determine how well the organisation is functioning.
is it sustainable with the current level of fees paid by clubs, or is the saasl limiting services to clubs to keep the fees low?
Im closer than you think

Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
Well they could charge everyone $10,000 to register and buy everyone a new stadium. Not having looked at the books I can't say for sure but as long as the outgoings don't exceed the incomings then what's the problem.FoundIt wrote:overall yes you should - everything included in the bottom line.God is an Englishman wrote:Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:Firstly, the SAASL are not a company.

Seems like you want SAASL to rob Peter to pay Paul. Why should my club pay extra so your club can have more (or vice versa)?

How much do the likes of millwall get in handouts from the FA with the epl cash? Couple of mil each for div 2, ¾ mil each for div 3 etc. etc. Is it merely philanthropic or just a common sense policy to keep the whole system viable and up to standard.

I don't believe we get anything from the PL or FA except for prize money. Not sure though.N5 1BH wrote:How much do the likes of millwall get in handouts from the FA with the epl cash? So I admit I haven't spoken to EVERY SAASL club but the few I have are voting NO.
What will a NO Vote mean? All over never to be spoken about again or more information to clubs and a revote down the track?
If the clubs vote NO - Can the SAASL committee overturn this and say YES?
What is the general consensus out there on which way the vote will go and why?

No. The clubs have final say on any major changes. The committee can present alternative options in the future but the clubs will always have voting rights.LRO wrote:So I admit I haven't spoken to EVERY SAASL club but the few I have are voting NO.

Common sense should be the YES vote but the small narrow mindness of the clubs will vote NO of course as the clubs don't like change for the betterment of the whole sport in SALRO wrote:So I admit I haven't spoken to EVERY SAASL club but the few I have are voting NO.

Re: SAASL Affiliation to the FFA/FFSA
So why vote YES? Im not convinced that there has been enough information to the clubs - when the first meeting of club delegates happened there were several questions that could not be answered - surely there should have been members of the FFSA there to answer these questions.churchill wrote:Common sense should be the YES vote but the small narrow mindness of the clubs will vote NO of course as the clubs don't like change for the betterment of the whole sport in SALRO wrote:So I admit I haven't spoken to EVERY SAASL club but the few I have are voting NO.

So apart from paying more money per year to play, getting no access to better refs etc, and oh, letting the big FFSA teams have another game in the ffa cup what did the SAASL gain.
For the betterment of the game? Or For the for FFSA clubs. Sounds like horrible negotiations all round.
Watch the fees rise in a few years
