Re: Socceroos are coming to town..
I hope you are right Damo but I doubt the Socceroos are as big a drawcard as AU were in the Grand Final.
The cost of tickets will be a major problem for families and the midweek timing will also affect crowd numbers, plus possibly bad weather.
I will go though as I love to see Saudi Arabia play, as they are a very skilful side, probably the best in the Middle East and have some very talented young players and some great forwards.
Australia, though, has an experienced coach and a style that, if all goes well, can force them on the back foot and nullify their threat.
Should be the best International ever played in SA.

The older I get the better I was.

It will be interesting to see, you have a very fractured group of supporters. There are those who only follow the European League and think the local game isn't worth watching. Those who follow the local league and think that's the most important show in town and those who follow all forms. I'm sure despite this being almost 'do or die', the Under 12 State League teams will still be forced to train - no wonder Football despite having so many juniors playing etc will never dominate the sporting landscape in Australia

I never miss any green & gold shirt games, now its up to everybody else to prove their patriotism!
Re: Socceroos are coming to town..

Our club has cancelled training on that night. With no junior games the following weekend it would seem sensibleKnight15 wrote:It will be interesting to see, you have a very fractured group of supporters. Agreed, hopefully sense prevails, we have waited years for a 'big game', this is crucial if we are going to qualify anything less than 40,000 will ensure we don't get another chancemagnet wrote:Our club has cancelled training on that night. I don't think you're right there, we played poms v cons at training once.Old Master wrote:Should be the best International ever played in SA.
Also, England v australia in any Ashes game would probably beat it as well.

c section basically sold out - b section appears to be doing well and there are still plenty of a section spaces available.magnet wrote:Knight15 wrote:30k topsmagnet wrote:[

Re: Socceroos are coming to town..
Am I missing something, because as i see it, the marketing has been deplorable...
TV promotion of the biggest International Football sport in the world coming to Adelaide let alone promotion on National TV (seen nothing).
This is so much a weakness at all levels on “main stream TV”

Yes, I agree, like it or hate it, half the crowd at the Grand Final were on the bandwagon - due to the lack of coverage, this game will miss thatRetro Metro wrote:Am I missing something, because as i see it, the marketing has been deplorable...

Football - Soccer number 1 sport internationally and FFA and Adelaide could not promote on any medium the opportinity, I might add a do or die game also.
Football - Rugby
Football -Union
Football - AFL (China) lol "what a joke" but a classic in promotion. It just goes to show how bad the FFA marketing is....
