Teams folding and forfeiting
Saturday div 3 is starting to take the shape of last year already.
Aldinga forfeited their game away at northern Wolves in both grades on Saturday.... does this mean that they are going to fold?? Or did they just not want to play against the wolves? (That wouldn't suprise me hahah)
I hope that they don't fold as this is not good for them as a club but also makes the league one team lighter, cutting the seasons games short again.
In saying that after checking the upcoming fixtures for this weekend on the result volt app, I noticed that the northern Wolves had been populated with a 3-0 forfeit win v Torrens Valley this Saturday.
After double check this on the website it appears that all the Torrens Valley games for the remainder of the season have been filled with a bye!!
Have they folded?
Will Aldinga be folding ?
Not good for the clubs and not good for div 3 again this season?
What's going on?

Re: Teams folding and forfeiting
I think we might be at breaking point as far as the current Saturday structure is concerned, at least below Divs 1 & 2. Consecutive seasons of shambolic fixturing & forfeiting indicates to me that asking all 20 clubs outside of the top Divs to field 2 teams year round may be impossible.Forest T Hairy wrote:Saturday div 3 is starting to take the shape of last year already.

The idea of 3 Divisions of 12 teams has been floated on here before & I think it would be about right for the numbers going off this season & last. Clubs who can't field 2 teams can then enter single team divisions.
It's unfair for players to pay their fees & only end up playing 12 or 14 games when they've paid for 18. It also makes it incredibly difficult to retain players when they're playing so few games, continuing the cycle each year.

Re: Teams folding and forfeiting
Just to confirm, TVSC are not folding, yes we have forfeited this week due to a massive injury list and overseas trips, however we did ask Northern Wolves if they would like to reschedule and they decided to take the 3 points.
Furthermore SAASL were informed that we (TVSC) were struggling to fill 2 teams for this season and we asked to be placed in a one team Division, this request was denied as they indicated that they wanted 10 team divisions and putting an extra team in Div 5 would create a bye.........go figure!!!

Time for a cap on "new teams" forming and only allowing new entries if a spot comes available. Oh no, that means less $$$$ - what was I thinking.

Do we need B Grade leagues, let each side battle it out for what division they should be in with just one rule. You can't have two teams from the same club in the same division.

They are badly officiated (not enough volunteers with a sense of respect for the game), every week teams field 'unregistered' players - just have to get out and see games to notice this (only a matter of time till unfortunately someone passes away on the field for people to realise the severity of playing an unregistered player)
Let clubs either have an A & B squad or 2 'squads' in 2 divisions - 4 teams.
Re: Teams folding and forfeiting
The logistics of this would be almost impossible, I do believe that whilst it won't solve it entirely, if you don't have 30 players registered 3 weeks out from the season starting you should only be eligible for a 1 team league - some teams may welcome this, as most of the issues appear to be with teams being able to field 2 teamsGod is an Englishman wrote:Do we need B Grade leagues, let each side battle it out for what division they should be in with just one rule. Re: Teams folding and forfeiting
For the record Aldinga will not be folding ha ha, made me chuckle.
We have had a horrendous amount of injuries and unavailability of players of late and have struggled to fill two complete teams with lots of players having to double up to help out the ressies, as our results will show.
Two full teams will be playing against Flinders this week and should be for the remainder of the season. Thanks for the concern Forest, see you in a few weeks time.

clubs would need more players, more pitch space (a lot share), more coaches etc etc.God is an Englishman wrote:Why would the logistics be impossible?Knight15 wrote:The logistics of this would be almost impossible, I do believe that whilst it won't solve it entirely, if you don't have 30 players registered 3 weeks out from the season starting you should only be eligible for a 1 team league - some teams may welcome this, as most of the issues appear to be with teams being able to field 2 teamsGod is an Englishman wrote:Do we need B Grade leagues, let each side battle it out for what division they should be in with just one rule. [quote="Gristy"]
Most would need the same as you have currently.
2 teams
1 pitch
2 coaches
A couple of extra players and only then for games at different locations.
Basically, exactly the same that goes on for Cup Rounds.

Re: Teams folding and forfeiting
I think if you move to a First Team and Reserves model for divisions 1-4 and then Division 5 onwards as single teams you won't have a issue.
Pretty much what you have in place now except no more C grades, instead clubs can have a additional teams in a high grade divisions.
Higher Divisions KO times may alternate week to week from 11:30am to 3pm.
It fixes the currently shambles and simplifies draws, scheduling, pitch availability etc...

And plenty of teams forfeit cup games
Pitch availability is a big issue, many teams share, so that would be 4 teams sharing a pitch
Player availability - if you have 30 in a squad, 3 games in you need reserves to go on bench, play 2 games etc If you have 2 squads of 15, then sooner rather than later you don't have enough etc
Perhaps Divisions 3 and below but doesn't work for Higher Divisions

How do these teams manage at the minute with pitch availability?Knight15 wrote:God is an Englishman wrote:Gristy wrote:

Players, yes you would need a few extra for when your sides are a different places.

Re: Teams folding and forfeiting
I think you'll find most clubs (at least what I've seen playing in Sat Div 5/6) use the same refs for their C game as their reserves so that throw that argument out the window.redwin wrote:God is an Englishman wrote:Why?redwin wrote:Perhaps they should do away with C teams....

At our club we have a schedule for linesman and rarely people kick and scream about it........
And I believe only one club (MA Hawks) didn't field a C team so BOSA's second C team filled their place, no fuss whatsoever.
We've never played anyone unregistered but if you've got any suspicions just call for a card check.....

We've had a number of instances this season where we've had players who wanna play but couldn't as the paperwork wasn't finalised yet....redwin wrote:Right Back wrote:

Never means never - not this week or this month or this season
