If you forfeit your As the Bs are a forfeit too....think that you possibly miss entry to the Cup the following season.

....as well as having the validity of the club questioned. Seriously, why bother being a club at all?

I can see why lower division sides forfeit against the big guns.
Does that mean they are inelligible to participate in next years cup?

Why go in the cup then as you're eventually going to be drawn against a good team

They could have stacked their B-Team and thrown the A match, not something most would do, but certainly an option that some teams opt for

Just have a cup for each league. We don't have to copy the FA Cup.

Yeh lets have 20+ cup.finals... yeh great solution. I can understand lower div teams not wanting to get beat by a bagful.. but that is the cup. I used to love plaging higher div teams... givs you a chance to play against quality players and experience a taste of playing in a higher div...

If it was a copy of the FA cup there would be replays.

last year we beat div 2 and div 1 opposition in both cups being div 4 ourselves it was great motivation, losing to another div1 team only 2-0.

this year although we are already knocked out, had two great games both against div 1 opposition, losing 4-2 in seniors (2 pens) and on pens in the reserves to vista. Both games could of gone either way as well, so you never know we enjoy it.

If a club forfeits a league game should they also not get entered into the league the following year?

We all have our excuses why we play on our respective days.

Rather than Saturday teams play Sunday and vise versa, why cant the league have the cup play; Saturday Div teams versus each other and Sunday Teams verse each other and the best Saturday Team will play off the Best Sunday team in the Grand Final?

Pretty simple format which i reckon will be more benefiting for all clubs and less forfeits in the early rounds of the cup.

Forfeiting to me is the same as giving up. Why bother playing sport if you're going to give up when it might get hard? P1ss weak.

One of those will still be inconvenienced by playing on the other day.

If the playing day is going to be your excuse withdraw from it before the preliminary round is drawn.

The idea of the cup is that you play clubs from different leagues, a separate comp.
why would you want a cup comp against teams you already play.

Imo if the reason these lower teams are forfeiting is because they're worried about getting spanked then that's a piss poor excuse .. man up and play the game , as a player myself I love drawing bigger teams in higher divisions , you fire up that bit extra against the big teams .. it's what a cup competition is all about , every year teams are deliberately forfeiting cup games for no good reason .. the penalties need to be more severe for clubs doing so .. if your forfeiting a game simply for the fear of losing then you shouldn't / don't deserve to play the beautiful game ..

I cant understand teams forfeiting in cup games, like the comments above, I use to enjoy the challenge of playing against top clubs, particularly if you are with a club that has never or may never play division 1, wouldn't you just want to have a crack at them ?
Not about winning or losing, it is about the experience your team will gain from playing against the top clubs.

Remember watching a game a few years ago, Stirling ( Div 1 ) were playing against Flinders regular Div 4 side ( which is like their third side ) Flinders were winning 1-0 until Stirling scored two late goals to win 2-1 much to the relief of the Stirling Coach. It was a real cup game atmosphere.

I am sure there are other clubs who can share similar stories.

Only 4 games into the season , do not understand clubs wanting a week off ?
