Gattuso hits out at Liverpool

Post by Le King »

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has dismissed Champions League final opponents Liverpool as a 'long ball' side.

Gattuso and his team-mates saw off Manchester United in the semi-finals this week to set up a repeat of the 2005 final, when Liverpool recovered from 3-0 down at half-time to win on penalties.

Of the two sides, former Rangers midfielder Gattuso believes United are the better team and accused Liverpool of using outdated tactics.

He said: 'I feel there is a noticeable difference in talent between Manchester United and Liverpool and that we have beaten the better side of the two.

'United have far more technical players, who are quick and able to do things on the ball. Liverpool do not have those individuals.

'What they have is a way of playing as a team. They are like an Italian team of 10 years ago. All they try to do is defend together, with everybody behind the ball and just one striker. Every ball is a long ball.'

so true, b4 the 2nd leg i sed if milan get through then pool will beat em, but if we got through we would beat pool

Gattuso is cabernet, he is easily milans worst player and showed that aginst united when all he could do was foul everyone who came near him, i would be happy to see him start in the final.
As gerrard says in his book he doesn't rate gattuso and was driven on in 2005 by the fact that gattuso was smiling as he left the pitch at half time thinking the game was over.
The guy is a hack that is why they loved him at rangers, will enjoy seeing him on the losing side again in 2007.

Liverpool are pathetic the game in 2005 was a fluke Milan just sat back and defended cause they took the walk in a park in the first half, they could have finished them off and destroyed them in the 2nd and I think this time Milan will clean them up and the whole Milan squad want to get back at Liverpool

your post makes no sense, but if your saying i'm a clown for rating gattuso so highly, i'm not bothered cos in that case i'm the clown that watched gattuso win a world cup and play a whole lot of quality football over this season and he's also the guy that made the English Premier Leagues "Best Player" for this season, look rather ordinary in the very recent past.

so pot, kettle or clown, i'm still confident gattuso will play very well in athens.

Gatusso = Member of the Milan side that capitulated in Istanbul (hence showed NO HEART).

Liverpool = Team that triumphed over Milan in the final, showed lots of heart.

You = Telling the forum Gatusso has more heart than the whole Liverpool side.

Gattuso is a gun, not many players like hiim in world football, ultimate tacklign machine and he had Ronaldo running scared in the second leg no doubt about that. World Cup winner and was a big part of it, quality player IMO.

In saying all that, Gerrard is a better player in all aspects of the game.

agree with all of the above.

at the san siro ronaldo didnt want the ball when gattuso was near.

gattuso is underestimated. not a typical italian midfielder but what he lacks in skill he makes up for twice over with his determination and attitude, every team could do with a player like him.

italy would not have one the wc without him, nor would milan be in the cl final without him.

gerrard vs gattuso will be a great battle, difference is gattuso stands a chance of stopping gerrard or at leat limiting his involvement, tell me which player in the liverpool side stands a chance of stopping kaka :?:

if didi hamann can do it, i'm sure mascherano can do it.

any player can be useless when marked out of the game and it doesn't take a superstar to mark someone out of the game.

cronaldo, best player in the premiership this season, destroyed by gattuso in the second leg

ronaldinho, best player in la liga, destroyed by bouhlarouz in one of their CL games

kaka, best player in the world, destroyed by hamann in istanbul

he is a gun but anyone can kick blokes, he should have had 2 yellows before he even received one late in the game simple as that....

Liverpool v AC Milan

Post by ozzie owl »

On a technical level there is no comparison, Milan are miles in front of Liverpool, just as are all the English clubs. Even the champions United lack the variety and technique of Milan. The English game in general is defiecient in key areas:

1. Inability to vary the pace of the game.

2. Unable to play tempo football and slow the game when needed.

3. Lack of tactical variety most teams operate 442 or 451 formation, with the emphasis on moving the ball forward quickly.

4. Generally poorer level of technique.

5. Most games played at frightening speed.

I am sure I will be shot down by English fans, but I am English myself, but the performances of the national team merely reinforce my view. Arsenal fans can rightly point out they are the exception to the the general style of English football. However they are coached by a Frenchman and rarely have an English player in their starting eleven.

Sadly the English insular attitude to football will see it languish behind the rest.
