It looks to me like the team with the best defence will win the league which, at the moment, you'd have to say, will be Chelsea. Everyone else is rowing a leaky boat.

Injuries and suspensions may mean he will still be needed, but if I was John Terry I'd be thinking about what I'm going to do in retirement.Nice One Cyril wrote:Good game for the neutral and pleased to see Bournemouth get up.ozzie owl wrote:Clinched defeat from the jaws of victory overnight.Wayne Kerr wrote:Liverpool FC Premiers 2016/17!

You can see the differences in the Chelsea and Leicester defences this season with the transfer of Kante, a great shielding midfielder.Stitch This wrote:Injuries and suspensions may mean he will still be needed, but if I was John Terry I'd be thinking about what I'm going to do in retirement.Nice One Cyril wrote:Good game for the neutral and pleased to see Bournemouth get up.

With an Italian in charge Chelsea they sure are disciplined ie when the other team has the ball its straight back into a 5-4-1 formation with the 2 lines of 5 and 4 so compact it actually looks like a bus just outside their 18 yard box

And why not when you can break as deadly as they did in the second half. The old suck them in and counter attack asap where you can.
Was funny watching Pep walking in circles rubbing his head. I think he got out coached in this game.

Are any of them? You never see one of these "geniuses" coaching West Brom or Brighton & Hove Albion, so it's hard to tell.Old Redback wrote:Pep possibly proving that he is NOT necessarily the genius coach he was supposed to be.....?

As it happens, I said many years ago that Ranieri was the foundation of Chelsea's resurgence. Roman's loot didn't do any harm either, but they were on the upswing anyway thanks to Claudio. Maybe he is a genius?Vernon Howell wrote:Two years ago you would have said Leicester City.

Re: Liverpool
As someone wrote today, no point beating Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City when you can't beat Sunderland, Burnley or Bournemouth - this is the reason Liverpool won't win the league.

Absolutely on point beating teams around you.

4 points beating City and drawing with Sunderland is better than beating Sunderland and drawing with City as we have taken points off rivals. We cant win every game.
If we had beaten Sunderland, Burnley or Bournemouth and dropped points in the other games we would (currently) be lower than second.
So please elaborate on the logic you quoted?

On track for 84 point season, that's enough of a tally for title winner in a competitive season where top 4-6 take points of each other. Unlikely to be enough for to catch a run away leader - Chelsea.

Re: Liverpool
my Klopp was not a happy man in the post press interview.. apparently (didnt see the game) the free kick shouldn't of been given and that resulted in a penalty for handball.

He was wrong to be so upset IMO. We didn't get the rub of the green (unlike your team who got the run of the Dean), but we didn't win because their 'keeper played well and we weren't clinical enough.Kosta Utd wrote:my Klopp was not a happy man in the post press interview.. apparently (didnt see the game) the free kick shouldn't of been given and that resulted in a penalty for handball.
