div 2 sunday. big spending clubs

some of the clubs in div 2 this year are paying thier players big dollars.
Was just wondering if people think they are getting value for thier dollar,
since the club leading the league at the moment pays nothing.
Would especially like to here from people that play or follow pontians and gully, as i think they would have an interesting perspective on this topic. And yes , beer money counts as payments

Are you including Mannca in your $0 club salary cap or is he your "marquee" and therefore not included?.... cos talk is he doesn't come cheap

having previously stated about beer money i'd say there hasnt been hiding like suggested.the fabricated amounts made by the so called non paying clubs is laughable and irrellevant. to continously slander these clubs gets a bit tiresome and boring, i find it funny that its only a division 2 subject fron certain clubs. whats the difference between 1 and 2? is it you dont play against them and continue not to?? the meaning of amateur used to be a term for the olympics also didnt it?? in div 1 i would think theres maybe 1,2 tops that dont pay beer money.in div 2 there maybe only a few that do pay beer money..but to hear it constantly brought up from 2 clubs in particular is getting boring..as aldo said should make it feel better if you do knock them off.. but same shite time and time again..as for onthepiss, if you got nothin at macos you were the only one, i know tryin to get a bite but a bit hypocritical..is it some clubs have the ability and others don't???

I cant answer for onthepiss, will let him fight his own demons . Why you guys so touchy. was only asking if you thought it was money well spent. obviously you dont think it money well spent from your reaction

Its my 20th season at Vista and i still pay $150 a year to put on the strip and yes its worth every penny, everyone at that club plays cause they love the club and the guys that play there

By the way with Vista 2nd that means as it stands the top 2 clubs don't get paid

Ive heard that everybody else at vista only has to pay $100. $150 for the last 20 yrs. do you think you get value for money ?

When Gully beat us last Sunday their club bought them beers from our Bar - which rewarded their players and made our club (or South Adelaide) some money! If we win on Sunday I will be doing the same at Plympton hardly paying players

It must be a good club cause Simon (Or Trevor as he is known to us) use to catch a bus up to you guys for training, the crazy b#stard. I hope you guys forked out for bus tickets

No one gets paid at beach, even Manca. Saying that though, I think it's a great idea that clubs reward their players with free p!ss after the game. If they put in the hard yards for the club, then its great that they get rewarded & it shows the clubs appreciation for their effort.

There are some clubs that pay and some pay big money.

For the first time in our history we are paying players based on training and results. The only reason is because a sponsor wanted the money to be used for this reason. Its a small amount but most of the boys spend it back over the bar and BBQ anyway so it ends up back at the club.

If you think soccer is bad, ask how much some Div 2-3 players in Aussie Rules are getting paid. I have a couple of mates who play in a Div 2 team that hasn't won a game this year and he is on $400 per game. Remember they have more players than soccer also.

I think Beachbum you should start paying your players as most of them will need to top up their pensions. Perhaps you could even invest in a fitness coach.

As for what do we do about the ref situation, you have a whole team down there that should start doing the course as they can't run anymore......a 5 nil whipping in the cup, I havent seen a more convincing win since junior days

we did meet his demands. Which were for a great club atmosphere. can understand how pontians couldnt meet that. you guys should just stick to players chasing the dollars

yes mr french i did get beer money at maco's, but inter paid me more. and every cent i got at the downs was put back over the bar plus a lot more . not sure why you had to mention me in your post. im hurt .

Many clubs flash money to attract players and get sweet F A, OTHERS work on getting a group of players that gell. THEN your club has a chance at winning SUN DIV ONE, the only division that MATTERS. Money is EVIL flash too much and risk your clubs future. Spend some but be careful THE TAX MAN AND THE FFSA are watching, keep your books up to-date. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL
